Eight Union Committees
Seek Student Applications
Union Program Committees (UPC),
formerly SAU, is taking applications for
membership in its committees on the
fourth floor of the Union Building next
week from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
"The name was changed because stu-
dents were getting it mixed up with the
Student Association (SA), and we felt
that UPC was more descriptive of what
the committees do than SAU was," Sara
Pegues, UPC secretary said.
UPC consists of eight committees
which are the Forum, Rock Bottom
Lounge (RBL), Cinema, Videotape,
(NTTN) Fine Arts, Cooperative Events,
Concert and Dance, and Publicity and
Public Relations," Lisa McKimball,
UPC Publicity and Public Relations
chairperson said.
"These committees select and coor-
dinate programs for the school. We are
trying to program a little something for

Foil Concert Schedule
A busy Labor Day weekend and the
announcement of dates for Chicago,

Pat Metheny will play at NT's Main

everyone on campus because the more
the students are involved in campus ac-
tivities, the more enjoyable their stay at
NT will be," she said.
Currently the RBL, Cooperative
Events and Cinema Committees have no
chairmen, and anyone who is interested
in those positions should come to the
Union and apply, she said.
"Some qualifications we are looking
lor are a willingness to work, depen-
dability and some organizational
abilities as well as enthusiasm for the
committee and NT," she said.
UPC committees will meet every
Tuesday in the Union, and in order to
become a voting member of a commit-
tee, attendance at two meetings is re-
quired, as well as participation in the dif-
ferent programs sponsored by the in-
dividual committee.
NTTN news broadcasts will begin
next week and newscasts may be viewed
from the monitors in the Union, located
by the One-O'Clock Lounge, the Avesta
Room, outside the book store and by the
reception desk on the third floor, she
said. Four monitors in the RBL will also
carry NTTN newscasts.
"I feel that our programming is a lot
stronger this year because of the wide
variety of shows that we plan to offer,"
she said.
