Col. Jot Gunter is right.. If
there is surplus of ootton as ap-

it to be in the hands of the far-

A Pleasant Surprise.
W. B. Patton-in hiB new play
"The Last Rose of Summer"
will be the attraction at the Ly-
ceum Monday night January 2nd.
While the star has established
himself in the heart of every
local theatre-goer Mr. Patton
promises a surprise for all in his
newest ooinedy "The Last Rose
of Summer." The play itself is
a modern up-to-datd comedy
depicting the life and scenes as
they really exist in every day
life; itoontains a beautiful story
of heart interest told -with sim-
plicity and naturalness." East-
ern oritios look upon Mr. Patton
as one of their most sterling
comedians and his quaint and
peculiar methods have won for
him the unstinted praise of the
entire Eastern press. He will be
surrounded this season with an
exceptionally clever supporting
oompany. The scenery is entire-
ly new and very extensive each
act being entirely special thus
adding to an already firiished
production. The engagement
here will bo looked forward to as
one of the sooiety events.
"The Minister's Son" will be
presented at a special requested
matinee Monday afternoon Jan.
2nd.

A Mexican was jailed a few
days ago on a oharge of stealing
some money from a countryman
at' Merkel and when Jailer Pee-
vey searched him he found the
son of Montezuma loaded up with
contraband in the shape of three
silk mufflers' two silk and one
linen handkerchiefs all neatly
foldfid as when on sale with the
cost and price tags still on them.
Mr. Peevtiy sent them 04 1 to
Merkel for identification. It is
probable that they were lifted
from display counters.

Asburnham Ont April 18
1903. -I think it is only right that
I should toll you what a wonder-
ful effect Chamberlain's Cough
Remedy has produced. The day
beforo Easter I was so distressed
with a cold and cough that I did
not think to be able to take any
duties the next day as my voice
was almost ohoked by the oough.
The same day I received an order
from you for a bottle of your
Cough Remedy. I at onoe pro-
cured a sample bottle and took
about threo doses of the medi-
cine. To ray great relief tbo
oough and cold had completely
disappeared and I .was able to
preach threo times on Easter
Day. I know that this rapid and
effeotivo ouro was due to your
Cough Remedy. I make this tes-
timonial withoqt solicitation be-
ing thankful to havo found suoh
a God-sent remedy.
Respeotfully yours
