Church People Too.
Judge J. F. Cunningham's
platform is published in this is-
sue. Barring the slop thrown
to Mineral Wells and El Paso
which may be good in its way
it seems to be sound throughout.
It offers a remedy for the en-
oroaohmonts of the federal oourts
on the rights of the oitizen and of
the States whioh is important
and urgent of application The
Judge is a oandidate for Congress
from this district 'and it is grati-
fying to see that he stands for
something besides a $5000 salary.
When we get around to issues
and principle and quit running
polities on church linos there
will be some hope for the 16th
district and strong men like
Judge Cunningham. It may be
that we are already passing out
of the "Bald-headed Bob" era
and getting into the sunlight of
prinoiple and progress. Who
knows? Breokinridge Demo-
orat. The Reporter and all of Abilene
appreciates the above reference
to Judge Cunningham as he rich-
ly deserves it.
Yet we are constrained to say
that it is susoeptible of a misoon
struotion as Judge Cunningham
is as strong with the bhuroh peo-
ple as with any other olass for
his standing is as high as any
man's -in the community morally'
professionally and in every way..
His oharaoter and reputation
are spotless. No man can stand
higher.
