good crops this fall Is most flatter-
ing. Nearly everybody who has n plot of
ground at his homo Is putting it In
shnpo for garden and the numbcEvOU-
gaged In this work Is many. It Is be-
lieved that this will bo an Ideal gar-
den year.
Eggs are cheaper here than for a
number or years atwi prlco Is
steadily declining. A number of chick-
en peddlers havjo been through tho
community buying up fowls giving tho
price of eight cents f.cr pound on tho
foot A number have been sold.
Goes to Dallas for Operation.
Mrs. Banlo Kincaid wife of the pro-
prietor of the Lyon Hotel In this city
was taken in an ambulanco to Ablleno
where Bho was placod aboard an east
bound train for Dallas for treatment
at the Baptist Sanitarium. Drs. Cash
and Hendricks accompanied liqr ns far
as Abilene.
Tho noon west bound Saitlu Fo train
Thursday was delayed several hours
between Lawn nnd Coleman on ac-
count of a slight derailment. No ono
was injured.
D A. Self Adjudged Insane.
D. A. Self a former citizen of this
place and later an inmate of the Con-
federate Home at Austin was adjudg-
ed inBano at Austin Monday and sent
to the State Lunatic Acylura. He was
dubbed Doctor Slick when residing In
this place and wbb ono of the oldest
residents of this part of the state.
Rev W. B. Sanders former pastor
of the Methodist Protestant church at
this placo preached at the"' Presbyte-
rian church Wednesday night.
The local telophone company has
Installed nearly CO phones since its
inception in tho local field giving the
town a network of wires and commu-
nications which would be of good
showing to any town much larger
J B. Martin barber has moved to
Mcrkel where he will conduct an up-to-date
barber and tailor shop.
Baptists Plan Rally.
The BaptistB are preparing for their
big' rally to bo given during tho first
few days in next month at the Pres-
byterian church in this city. Rev. A.
L. Maddox of Abilene pastor in charge
will have charge of the rally and spe-
cial singers from various parts of tho
country will participate.
The Abilene Reporter has the larg-
est circulation of any paper In tho
Gap outside tho local paper and Is
rapidly growing.
Tho birthday of Henry Boll a-popu-lar
local man was fittingly observed
St. Valentine's day at the residence of
the young man's parents. There was
more than threo scores of people rep-
resenting every community In several
miles of the Gap present and a most
delightful tlmo was enjoyed by all
who were presont. Fruit berries nnd
cream were served.
Mrs. M G. Jenkins who has been
visiting her parents at Huakpll during
the past weok has returned home.

tending the gettlng-out of tho new
Trent Banner publication has re-
turned to the city telling about the

Coleman last week and succeeded in
locating a running mate of the man
