Another Protest Regarding Pair Grounds.
Sinoo my artiolo in yesterday's
Reporter I haVo talked with a
number of the pooplo among
them men of means and enter-
r
priBO and they approve my po-
sition and several of thom say
they will give one hundred dol
lars' towards paying- Hho- debt
against tho grounds provided
that no debt against thom shall
hereafter be oontraoted.
I sugge'st that tho money bo
raised the debt paid and tho
grounds be deeded to tho oity
reoitirig a proviso that these
grounds.be used as a publio park
a fair and suoh publio use as
may be deemed proper and that
no debt ever stand against these
grounds; that the Fair Associa-
tion may lease the grpuhds'
buildings and equipments eaoh
year for a nominal sum but that
they shall never be so tied up
that the peoples rights shall be
abridged.
.This is ionly an outline; I am
using to bring the matter before
the people. . Respectfully
John L. Stephenson.
Rev. D. L'. Collie has returned
from Nugent where he oonduoted
a ten days protracted meeting;
He reports having had a very fine
meeting quite a number.of oon-
versions with the church and
community reached as has not
been done in years.- The attend
ance was large at all of the ser
vices the last merht tne nouse
being packed with people turned
away. At the Sunday morning
service between $700 and $800
was raised for the purpose of
building a parsonage and the
property selected before Mr Col-
lie left Nugent. Presiding Elder
John R. Morris has deoided to
make Nugent a half station an-
other year so that they oan have.
preaohiner-two -Sundaysan eaoh
month. By this arrangement
with a resident pastor andf the
two Sundays in eaoh month the
cause of Methodism and Christi-
anity will no doubt be enhanced
inithis exoellent oommunity.

of getting the topography of'tho

He reported his orew as being in
