Both Hutbond and Children How ThoiJwahda
of Mothers Have Been Saved From Nervoue
Prostration and Made Strong and WelL
I Af.wg'H
A nerrous irritable mothor often on
tho verge of hysterica la unfit to care
for children ; it ruins a child's disposi-
tion and reacts upon herself. Tho
tronble between children and their
mothers too often is due to tho fact
that the mother has some female weak-
ness and she is entirely nnflt to bear
the strain upon her nerves that govern-
ing' children involves; it is impossible
for her to do anything calmly.
The ills of women act like a firebrand
upon tho norves consequently nino-
tenths of tho nerrous prostration nor-
tous despondency. " the blues" sleep-
lessness and nervous irritability of
women arise from some dorangoment
of tho female organism.
Do you experience 'fits of depression
with restlessness alternating with
extreme irritability? Aro your spirits
easily affected so that one mlnuto you
laugh and tho next mlnuto yon fool
like crying ?
Do you feel something liko a ball ris-
ing In your throat and threatening to
choke you ; all the senses perverted
morbidly sensitive to light and sound ;
gain in the ovaries and especially
etween the shoulders ; bearing down
pains; nervous dyspepsia and almost
continually cross and snappy ?
If so your nerves are in a shattered
condition and you are threatened with
nervous prostration.
Proof is monumental that nothing in
the world is better for nervous prostra-
tion than Lydla E. Pinkham'a Vege-
table Compound: thousands and thou
sands of women testify to this fact.

Tho Record" bolievoa flrrqly in

oitiee they are prolifio'dtrowdjfism
and namolosB immoralities which
require immediate and thorough
polioo restraint. Polioed as Fort
Worth is a saloon noar a sohool
building will brood innumerable
ills that will .escape tho attention
of tho offioers.
Senator Hanger has introduced
a bill in tho legislature designed
to regulate this very matter and
it ought to be passed at once with
the emergency olaUse.
The plain truth is that tho law-
lessness of saloon-keepers and
their utter contempt in the pasfc
for the proprieties of life are re-
sponsible for muoh of tho oppo-
sition whioh hampers a legalized
business. There has been some
reform of late but there is room

ested are not more considerate of
public sentiment they need not
bo surprised if the people resort
to -more restrictive measures.

No Shadow Thursday;
Thursday is ground-hog day.
For oenturies the custom has
been to watch ito see whether the'
ground-hog will be able to see
his shadow or not. From: .the
present weather conditions of the
padt twenty-four hours the pr6 -
babilities are that Mr. Hog' will
not have an opportunity;. to see
his shadow and will go back
again into his hole to remain' an-
other Bix weeks as has been the

knowing that the baokboneof the
winter has been broken and
spring is near at hand. On the
other hand if he sees his shadow
winter will continue six weeks
more.
The ground hog belief is an
old one and is believed in even
to this day by many. In the old
states and especially by the old-
time plantation negroes the event
is eagerly watohed even now.
Tlje day is merely one of super-
stition and is one whioh originat-
ed in Germany. The day was
originally observed among the
German Catholios for St. Nichol-
as and was known as Michael-
mas day. Fort Worth Telegram.
No shadow showed up this time
for a certainty; and we will hope
that the balance of the winter will
be wet rather than cold.
