AUSTIN Texas. May 28. The law
passed by the legislature In 100D al-
lowing 4000 convicts In the state pen-
itentiary and on the stntc farms 10
cents per day for their labor has been
repealed by the enactment of the
special session of the Thlrty-flftlr leg-
islature of an act reorganizing tho
penitentiary system of the state. Tho
net has been signed by tho governor.
Tho new law reduces tho work day
from ten to nine lHurs but a credit
system is provided which If Ihotl up lo
by the convicts will result In mater-
ially reducing their terms In the state
prison.
This act also prohibits tho working
of convicts on Sunday except in casos
of emergency and when such an
emergency arises tho convict shall be
credited doublo time. Improvement
of the sanitary facilities on the stnfo
