Z7 We publish the Shinnery Review each year in
O order to offer all students at ACU a place to
V express their voices through the literary and
visual arts and to encourage continual spiritual
,D growth through the exploration of new ideas
O and the cultivation of God-given creative talents.
Many of the staff's selections embody traditional
Christian ideals; this is in the spirit of writers and
artists utilizing their gifts to communicate Christian
beliefs and convictions in a new way. Some of the
works appearing in the Shinnery Review from year
to year will approach their subject matter by raising
questions or by probing difficult areas. Other works
may explore life's meaning through non-traditional
methods, perhaps guided by a believing heart but
spurred by an unsatisfied intellect. In order to reflect
the ever-increasing diversity of the ACU student body,
the Shinnery aims to invite works with a broad scope
of different opinions and responses to life.
Part of the university's vision is to welcome students
of any race, religion or creed. We share in this vision
by publishing contributions from a variety of perspe-
tives. We have enjoyed and been challenged by the
works submitted each year. It is our hope that you,
too, will appreciate these honest attempts to struggle
with important questions.
