NEW MODERN RETAIL CENTER SCHEDULED TO OPEN
NOVEMBER 1
31
An official ground breaking
ceremony for a new modern center
that will consist of office and retail
space, located at the corner of
Highway 78 and Sachse Road, was
held July 23, 1984. Pictured break-
ing ground I to r are: Jack Crews,
Project Coordinator; Bob Cray,
Co-Owner; and Bill Minyard, Co-
Owner/Developer.
Sachse Road and Highway 78 is
a historical corner for the City of
Sachse. During the past half cen-
tury, residents of Sachse have seen
a variety of businesses at the loca-
tion. Some of them were: a grocery
store, a service station (old timers
called it a filling station), a barber
shop, a clothing store, and others.
Finally in 1984 a feed store (Dis-
count Feeds) gave way to make
room for a new modern retail
center to serve Sachse for another
50 years or more.
Bill Minyard, co-owner and de-
veloper of the center, said "this
will be the finest retail center yet
for the growing City of Sachse".
"The 9,000 square feet of space on
this historical corner will be
beautifully landscaped with ample
front parking for tenants and
customers," Mr. Minyard said.
Minyard Realty Co., located in
Garland, phone number 270-4424
for information, has exclusive leas-
ing for this center, and at the same
ground breaking on the corner of
Highway 78 and Sachse Road Mr.
Minyard said that another retail
center in Sachse, located at
Highway 78 and Brookview, con-
sisting of 8,700 square feet, will
open on the same date. "Both
centers will be the finest to serve
the residents of Sachse," Mr.
Minyard said.
Jack Crews, project coor-
dinator, said that a donut shop,
dentists, doctors, a dry cleaners, a
pizza place, and real estate offices,
along with others, are prospective
businesses that will occupy the two
centers.
Opening date for the two centers
is scheduled for November 1, 1984,
Mr. Minyard said.

FOLLOWING
SPEED CHASE
A high speed chase in Sachse has
led to the arrest of three persons
and the confiscation of several
firearms, ammunition, drugs and
equipment.
On July 14, about 4:30 a.m.,
while patrolling on Third and
DeWitt Streets, Sachse Police Of-
ficer Craighead observed and at-
tempted to stop a suspicious vehi-
cle.
The three men in the vehicle
would not stop and traveled at a
high rate of speed trying to elude
Officer Craighead. A speed of 105
MPH was reached before the vehi-
cle wrecked out at Miles Road and
Bunker Hill, Craighead said.
One suspect was arrested follow-
ing the accident, two others ran
from the scene on foot. Police
Chief Holley was called to assist
and direct the search for the two
fleeing suspects.

City Considers
Zoning Changes
The Sachse Cit> Council and
Planning and Zoning Commission
have been studying possible
changes to the City's zoning or-
dinance. The public is invited to at-
tend work sessions at the City Hall
on August 14, 15 and 16. The pur-
pose of the work session is to hear
public opinion before entering into
the formal process of zoning hear-
ings and ordinance amendments.
A letter of invitation, sent to each
water meter customer, lists the type
of changes being considered.
