Thursday Study
Club Meets
The Thursday Study Club met in
the lovely home of Mrs. Calvin
Dickinson for its Friendship Day
program on Thursday, January 4.
Very interesting and informative
were the excerpts from current
magazines given as roll call at the
beginning of the meeting.
Mrs. Pet King, program leader,
presented Miss Helen Manning,
who sang very beautifully, the
selection "Friends," with Mrs.
Guy Hughes as accompanist. Mrs.
King then graciously welcomed
Rev. J. W. Hardt, pastor of the
First Methodist Church, who spoke
on the subject, "Friendship."
"If you desire a definition of
friendship," said Rev. Hardt, "we
might say it is the meeting of
mind and heart." The real meaning
of friendship can be better under-
stood, he felt, in a study of illus-
trations of actual friendships. He
then presented several examples
from the Bible and from his ex-
perience, which proved that friend-
ship in jts truest sense, overcomes
all barriers and becomes one of
life's greatest and most prized
possessions.
Following the program, Mrs.
Dickinson served a lovely salad
plate to the club members and the
guests.
The next meeting of the club
will be Thursday, January 18, at
the home of Mrs. J. W. Hardt.
The program will be a study of the
Symphony Orchestra.
