COUNCIL ELECTS OFFICERS
Officers tor next year's Stu-
dent Council were elected last
Wednesday by the student
body. They are Ted McCoy,
president; Tommy Mills, vice
president; and Elizabeth Cham-
bliss, secretary.

TEEN CLUB HAS PARTY
The Teen Club had a party
^JCriday night at the community
*£rjiater. Mr. and Mrs. Cliff
ilrock sponsored the group.
The party was the second of
its kind this year. In addition
to ping pong and dancing, re-
freshments were enjoyed by
everyone.

NATIONAL FHA WEEK
Over one-half million Future
Homemakers of America in
states throughout the nation
will observe National FHA
Week April 5 through 11.
Mrs. Alicia Hampton, Home
Economics teacher at Pewitt
is advisor of the local chap-
ter and the officers are Becky
Tigert, Sharon Mitchell, Gail
Ranes, Karen Towler, Jo Anne
Tigert, Darlene Mitchell, Pam
Irvin, Cheryl Welch and Mar-
tha Brown.
The activities scheduled for
FHA Week are: Monday, put
^posters on the school bulletin
board and held an FHA meet-
ing with emphasis on the im-
portance of FHA. Tuesday, the
FHA girls presented flower
arrangements and gifts to the
senior citizens or patients in
hospitals. On Wednesday the
FHA members wore red and
white. On Thursday special
articles will appear in local
newspapers and there will be
a FHA assembly program. On
Friday a tea will be given for

the eighth grade and the 1963-
64 officers will wear white and
the 1964-65 officers will dress
in red and white.
On Saturday FHA members
will work in local homes to
earn money for a dinner with
their mothers. The activities
will conclude on Sunday with
all FHA members attending a
local church together and a
dinner honoring the FHA girls'
mothers will be followed by
presentation of Outstanding
Student in Homemaking Award
and a program.

PLAY WINS SECOND
The Pewitt one-act play un-
der the direction of Miss Koon
won second in the Interschol-
astic League contest held in
Atlanta on Thursday, April 2.
The play, "Surpressed Desir-
es", was a modern day comedy
concerning makeshift psychol-
ogy. The cast consisted of
Judy Allen, Tommy Stewart,
and Carolyn Thigpen. The
stage and make-up crew in-
cluded Jo Ann Tigert, Ann
Coffey and Marvadene Brock.
Judy Allen was chosen the
best actress and Tommy Stew-
art placed on the All Stat
Cast.

ATTEND STEER SHOW
Bimbo Frost, son of Mr. and
Mrs. George Frost, showed his
steer to a blue ribbon winner
last Saturday in the Cass Coun-
ty Junior Fat Steer Show. Pi
D. Bearden and James Tom-
berlain, the Pewitt agriculture
teachers, assisted Bimbo in
getting his steer ready for the
show. Donnie Surratt, Johnny
Talley, Johnny Ramsey and
Larry Derrick attended the
show.

Fourth six weeks honor roll named at Pewitt
CHEERLEADERS ELECTED
Cheerleader try-outs were
held Monday, April 2. The pep
squad elected Elizabeth Cham-
bliss as head cheerleader and
Charlotte McClain, Nita Bal-
lard. Cynthia Hall and Belinda
Skelton are tied. A run-off will
be held at a later date.

HONOR STUDENTS
Tommy Lyles has been nam-
ed honor student for March.
He is 16 years old, five feet
and nine inches tall and weighs
150 pounds. His favorite color
is blue, his favorite sport is
football, his favorite expres-
sion is "Big Deal" and his pet
peeve is being broke. He be-
longs to the football squad,
track team, is sophomore class
president and a member of
the Spanish Club.

Ilicks. She is 15 years old and

favorite sport is football, her

is a member of the FHA and
