$ MONITOR
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 1956
Cornett
By Miss Daisy Heard
Sunday school was held at
10:30. There were several visitors,
and an unusually good attendance
for the bad cold weather.
Sorry to report Bob Wommack
ill and now at the Bucey Glenn
hospital in Linden.
Mary Catherine Hampton cele-
brated her birthday Feb. 3. Happy
birthday Mary Catherine, and
many returns to follow.
Mrs. Nora Gibson shared a very
happy and surprising birthday
party with her twin sister, Mrs.
Ora Hawkins in Hughes Springs
Friday.
To highlight the party were all
their friends, and a beautiful
cake with the Birthday Greeting,
"Happy Birthday Ora and Nora".
Cake, hot chocolate and coffee
was served to the group.
Many lovely gifts were received
from those attending.
Lewis Elmore May of DeKalb
spent the week end with relatives,
Mrs. Bera Grant, and daughter,
Sarah.
Mr. Vance Gibson is finishing
his degree work at E. T. S. T. C.
The H. C. Arnolds spent Sunday
in Hughes Springs.
Mr. and Mrs. Max McMichael
have moved to the house of Grady
Betts just vacated by Bill Rich.
Paul Sharp and family, Rob
Powell, and Burr Powell families
visited in the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Dock Powell Sunday.
Remember Sunday Feb. 12 is
regular preaching day. Do come
out to church.
There has been much wanted
lain in the past week. Roads and
fields are soaked. We hope mois-
ture will continue through gaiilen
planting season.
Murray Gibson is now employed
at Lone Star Steel.
Regret to report a relative, Mrs.
Sam Newby of Hughes Springs
passed away last Monday ox a
heart attack. The Rev. Major held
the service at the Harris Chapel
Church Tuesday.
Remember the Quilting Club
ladies. Come out and be with us
cach Wednesday.
