Pewitt effectively grounded
Ed Hargett and his Linden-
Kildare air attack last Friday
night in the opening football
game of the 1964 season and
stepped off with a 26-6 vic-
tory,
It could have been mora
one-sided had it not been for
Coach Fielding Huddleslon's
liberal substitution in the last
half.
The Brahmas scored the
second time they got posses-
sion of the ball. They lost it
the first time on a fumble
the first play they ran.
The scoring drive covered
62 yards in 13 plays with
Quarterback Tom Brian car-

went three yards to score. An-
other pass for the extra points
missed. .
Linden-Kildare came to life
briefly and moved 69 yards
in 11 plays to score with Gary
Hanes picking up the final
yard. A 35-yard pass, Har-
gett's only completion of the
night, was the big play in the
series.
Pewitt took the kick after
tne Tiger touchdown and
moved 57 yards in 12 plays
with Munkres going the last
three yards. Tom Brian ran
for the extra points and the
Brahmas quit for the half
with a 20-6 lead.
Tom Brian sneaked over
from the one yard line in the
third- quarter for the final
score to give Pewitt the 26 to
6 edge.
Huddleston substituted so
freely that nine boys saw duty
in the Pewitt backfield.
Of the four starters, Half-
back Tim Henderson had the
best average with 81 yards in
14 runs. Halfback Roger Ed-
monson gained 97 yards in
17 times with the ball, Mun-
kres 51 yards on 11 runs, and
Tom Brian a net of 3 yards in
8 runs.

the whole crowd of backs with
31 yards on four runs, includ-
ing two romps of 12 yards
each.
Wayne Lowery ran once
from fullback and made five
yards, James Boyd Gibbs four
times for seven yards, Gary
Luttrell two times from the

pass but it was called back
because of a penalty.
Tom Brian completed the
Brahmas' only good pass of
the night to Ted McCoy good
for 24 yards.
With Hargett jazzing up the
Tiger offense, the Brahmas
sewed him up so effectively
he completed only one pass
out of eight anu intercepted
three of them. They also put
a stop to his running gr'ne.

Brian were busiest defensive-
ly with a part in seven tack-
