Pastor's son in hospital at Galveston
New stales ..
Scales donated to the Morris County Livestock
Association by the National Bank of Dainger-
field are being admired by Bill Webb, presi-
dent of the bank, and Jerry Pratt, assistant
superintendent of Daingerfield schools and the
MARIETTA
president of the Livestock Assoc'ation. The
scales may be borrowed by association mem-
bers with a charge of $2 per day and they must
be returned to the Naples Farm Supply or Les-
lie's Farm Supply at Daingerfield. Members
of 4-H Club and FFA chapters in Morris county
may use the scales for their own projects free
for one day but will be charged $2 for each
day after that.

The Rev. and Mrs. McQueen
left for Galveston Saturday to
be with their son, William,
who will undergo heart sur-
gery at John Sealy Hospital.
William has been treated for
several months, waiting for the
proper time for surgery. The
church and community will
want to join our prayers and
wishes for his recovery.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Chil-
dress of Dallas spent the week
end with her parents, the C. D.
Betts.
Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Harri-
son of Dalton spent Sunday
afternoon with Mrs. Minnie
Hampton and Mary Catherine.
J. O. Bobo had a pleasant
surprise call from his sister,
Mrs. Dewey Hyatt of Ar?b,
Ala., Sunday. Mr. and Mrs.
Hyatt were en route to Hous-
ton to their winter home.
The WSCS met at 2 p.m.
Tuesday. All ladies are enter-
ing into the fall study.
Reports are that Floyd
Blankenship is much better,
and his wife and children are
living near the hospital. Floyd
hopes to be able to go to his
home soon. More surgery will
be necessary at intervals to
repair the injuries he suffer-
ed in an explosion recently.
United Fand organized; plan benefit

A United Fund has been or-
ganized for Marietta so that
all the charity drives might
be combined into one. The
money collected will be divid-
ed among the charities such as
Boy Scouts, Match of Dimes,
Red Cross. Heart Fund. Cancer
Society, and for local charities
such as the fire department
and others. A pot stew has
been planned to kick off the
drive. Everyone is being urged
to give his fair share to help
put thic drive over the top.
Mr. and Mrs S. E. Fletcher
Sr., were in Dallas during the
week end to visit in the homes
of Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Fletcher
Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Bobby
Don Fletcher and families.
The Fletchers have received
the word that their daughter,
who lives in the midwest, is
improving after undergoing
major surgery recently.

tonio, spent the week end with
his mother, Mrs. Irene Smith.
Mrs. H. O. Dail spent the
week end in Houston with her
husband, who is working
there.
Randle Green of Houston
moved his family back to Hous-
ton this week end. Tne family
had lived at their home here
the past few months.
Gene McCoy and W. W. Rob-
ison are in Nebraska on their
annual hunt this week.
Don McCord of DeQuoen,
Ark., who has been in training
with the U.S. Navy in Gulf-
port, Miss., spent Sunday in
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Del-
ton Miller, Mary and Jan, en
route to Camp Pendleton,
Calif., from where he will be
sent to Okinawa.
Mr and Mrs. C. J. Wom-
mack of Port Neches spent
Friday night in the R. L. Har-
ris home en route to Tuscola,
111., for a week's visit with
Mrs. Wommack's family.
Mrs. T. E. Wommack, Miss
Thelma Russell and Mrs. R. L.
Harris attended the regional
meeting of Delta Kappa Gam-
ma Society in Longview Sat-
urday.
The Rev. and Mrs. James
Day and family, who have
been living at Coolidge, Ariz.,
spent the week end with Mr.
and Mrs. Ernest Hanes and
Mrs. Gene McCoy.
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Mc-
Coy spent the week end in
Austin with their son, Ted, a
Texas University student. They
were accompanied by Mr. and
Mrs. Jamie Brabham.

The church and community
extend sympathy to Mrs. Roy
Traylor in the death of her
son, Raymond Meadows at Ro-
tan, Texas last Sunday. Funer-
al services were held Tuesday.
Mrs. Traylor and son, Hugh
and family, attended.
Mrs. Noel Higgins of Dain-
gerfield ate lunch Sunday with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis
Cornett. Noel has been attend-
ing a National Guard meeting.
Mr. and Mrs. Vance Gibson
spent the week end at his
farm. Vance is teaching in Ty-
ler.
Miss Kay McCord was at
home from Kilgore College
last week end.
Mrs. C. D. Beits has im-
proved and Mrs. Velma Gib-
son, who has been attending
her, has gone home.
