Charles Thomas Moore wins second in state
Charles Thomas Moore. Pew-
itt high school's tennis star,
made it to the finals of the
stale Class A meet last week
end at Austin.
He lost that final round Sat-
urday to Eddie Matthews of
Santa Rosa, 6-2 and 6-2.
Moore, the son of Mr. and
Mrs. James Richard Moore of
Biaha, had advanced through

Caps and gowns were hand-
ed out to Pewitt seniors Fri-
day. The class picture was
made Monday.
We want to congratulate
Charles Thomas Moore on his
fine showing in the Cass A
state tennis meet in Austin
Friday. He went to the finals
and was defeated there by the
state champion.
The Pewitt FFA Livestock
team entered the judging con-
test Saturday at Texas A&M
University. Team members
were Stan Davis, Charles Shi-
rey and Wendell Frost. The
results will not be known un-
til later in the week. Mr. and
Mrs. James Tomberlain accom-
panied the boys to Bryan.
The annual spring concert
will be presented by the Brah-
ma band at 8 p.m. Thursday.
The program will be held in
the cafeteria and will consist
of several numbers played by
both the high school and the
beginner bands.
The homemaking depart-
ment is busy working on its
annual PTA style show. The
theme will be "Sights and
Sounds" with emphasis on the
modern fashions and fads.
Along with outfits made in
homemaking classes, several
local dress shops will be rep-
resented. The show is sched-
uled for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday,
May 16, in the Pewitt cafe-
teria.
This year's edition of the
yearbook, the Round-Up, ar-
rived Monday. They were dis-
tributed Monday night at a
party given by the annual
staff in the cafeteria.

Both Moore and Matthews
are juniors so a re-match may
be in the making for the 1968
state finals.
Moore was Pewitt's only en-
try in the state athletic com-
petition when it reached the
final round and h s third time
to advance into the playoffs.
As a freshman, he won the
District 13AA title and was
beaten in the state semi-fin-
als. He won the same district
championship last year but
lost out in the regional tour-
nament.
This is the first year for
him to compete in Class A.
