Miss Patricia Hampton becomes bride
of Ronnie Lanier here Saturday night
The marriage of Miss Patri-
cia Hampton, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Louis Hampton of
Naples, to Ronnie Lanier, son
of Mrs. Elsie Morrison of
Daingerfield and Floyd Lanier
of Houston, was impressively
solemnized at 8 p.m. Saturday
in a picturesque setting of
flickering white candles, blue
and white flowers and green-
ery, at the First Baptist Church
of Naples.
The Rev. Morris Hill offici-
ated at the double ring cere-
mony.
Marriage vows were ex-
changed before an ivy-wound
altar enhanced by tiered can-
delabra with green ivy tapers.
With it tall baskets of white
gladioluses were used against
a background of green stock.
Four windows of the church
were lighted by candles. Fam-
ily pews were marked by
white satin bows.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a floor-
length gown fashioned of
white bridal satin with an or-
chid lace bodice designed with
a scalloped neckline and long
sleeves that fell to a point
over her hand. Complement-
ing her dress were white pat-
ent shoes and a head band of
white seed pearls from which
fell a shoulder length veil of
white French illusion. The
bride's only jewelry was a
white pearl necklace, a gift
from the groom.
The bride carried a lovely
bridal bouquet of white car-
nations with satin ribbon
streamers tied in love-me-
knots.
The matron of honor. Mrs.
Sandra Hobbs of Mt. Pleasant,
cousin of the bride, and brides-
maid, Miss Brenda McEntire
of Lone Star, cousin of the
bridegroom, wore identical
blue brocade street length
dresses designed with a scal-
loped neckline, short scallop-
ed sleeves and full skirts with
dyed to match blue satin
shoes.
Complementing the dresses
were blue peau de soie pill
box hats from which fell short
blue French illusion veils.
They carried lovely bouquets
of blue and white carnations
showered with blue and white

and Wayne McEntire of Lone
Star, cousins of the bride-

Mrs. Morrison, mother of
the bridegroom, was attired in
a light blue wool dress with
black accessories. A corsage
of white orchids was pinned
to her shoulder.
Following the ceremony, a
reception was held in the fel-
lowship hall of the church.
The serving table, overlaid
with a fuii-length white net
cloth over a blue cloth was
centered by a double-ring ar-
rangement of white net.
Punch was served from a
crystal punch bowl by Miss
Virginia Hawkins, cousin of
the bride. Miss Barbara Mc-
Entire, cousin of the bride-
groom, served a three-tiered
blue and white embossed
wedding cake topped by a
miniat-ire bride and bride-
groom placed beneath an arch-
way.

Pleasant, cousin of the bride,
presided at the bride's book.
The bride's table was cov-
ered with a white linen cloth
with an arrangement of as-
serted blue flowers in a piece
of milk glass.
For her wedding trip, the
bride wore a blue flowered
dress with matching solid blue
linen and a fingertip jacket.
She wore matching blue pat-
ent heels and bag, and pinned
a corsage of blue roses with
white satin ribbon on her
shoulder.
Mr. and Mrs. Lanier will
make their home in Longview.
Petticoat
Patter
By Pat Narramore
The measles epidemic at
Paul H. Pewitt school has just
about faded but a new bug has
hit the student population.
It isn't a local disease. It
has spread from Maine to Cal-
ifornia. But Pewitt has been
liard-hit from the high school
down through elementary.
We were all ignorant of the
new disease up until about six
weeks ago. Then it burst upon
the scene like a tornado. Just
e few in-the-know people had
ever heard anything of it and
even they probably had no
idea of its far-reaching effects.
The illness can strike any
school child. Even pre-school-
ers have been known to catch
it. Adults are mostly affected
by a tendency to pull their
hair out in private. It can hit
both male and female chil-
dren.
Its symptoms are a glazing
of the eyes, twitching of the
feet and an utter unconcern
with anything disconnected
with the mania. At the height
of the fever, the victims walk
around like zombies quoting
favorite bits of the histories
of the bugs that cause the
sickness, and saying "Oh,
yeah, oh, yeah, oh, yeah."
Some of the ill insist on
wearing wigs similar to those
the germs affect. Most of the
diseased have collected large
libraries of records and mag-
azines on the causes of their
illnesses.
Best treatment for the ill-
ness is to try to keep the vic-
tims fairly calm with the rec-
ords and literature that they
crave without letting them
break you in the process . . .
and a good set of ear plugs
for you.
The new disease ... in case
anyone is still wondering . . .
is BeatleMania.
