JVIiss Cheryl Griffin, Frank Harrison
exchange wedding vows at Omaha
The wedding of Miss Cheryl
Griffin to Frank Harrison was
solmenized at 7:30 p.m. Friday,
Dec. 23, at the Omaha Metho-
dist Church. The Rev. Timothy
Stahl officiated.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Welborn Griffin
of Douglassville and the bride-
groom is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. L. H. Legg of Queen City.
The church was decorated in
aqua and white with the altar
outlined with seven-branched
candelabra entwined with
greenery, in which burned
white cathedral tapers.
Vows were exchanged be-
fore an arch covered with
greenery and a sunburst ar-
rangement of white specimen
mums and carnations. On each
side of the arch was a large
pedestal bouquet of white
mums and carnations with
white and aqua satin bows. To
complete the scene, a white
pre-dieu was placed immedi-
ately in front of the arch.
Mrs. Harry Clarkson of
Douglassville played tradition-
al wedding music and accom-
panied Miss Martha Clarkson
who sang "Because", "Whith-
er Thou Goest", and "The
Wedding Prayer".
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore an orig-
inal gown fashioned of white
peau de soie with a chape!
length bell skirt. Chantilly lace
covered the bodice and formed
elbow length bell sleeves. The
mantilla was also of chantilly
lace. Her only jewelry was a
single strand of pearls, a gift
of the bridegroom, and she
wore the traditional "some-
thing old, new, borrowed, blue,
and a sixpence in her shoe".
The bride's bouquet was of
white roses and stephanotis
with French maline and knot-
ted satin.
Mrs. Fran Clements of Nac-
ogdoches was matron of hon-
or, and Mrs. John Henderson
of Nacogdoches and Miss Suz-
anne Harrison, sister of the
bridegroom, were bridesmaids.
The attendants were identi-
cally attired in aqua satin
dresses which featured empire
waists accented with velvet,
bell sleeves and slightly flared
skirts. They carried nosegays
of white carnations looped
with white satin ribbons.
Joe Baker of Douglassville
was best man. John Henderson
of Nacogdoches and John Har-
rison, brother of the bride-
groom, served as groomsmen.
Richard Wright of Omaha, cou-
sin of the bride, and Leslie C.
Williams of Atlanta served as
ushers.
For her daughter's wedding,
the bride's mother wore a pink
and white brocaded suit with
pink accessories. Her corsage
was a pink orchid. The bride-
groom's mother chose a beige
brocaded dress with matching
accessories. Her corsage was
an orchid also.
Immediately following the
ceremony, a reception was
held the church parlor.
The reception table was cov-
ered with a white taffeta and
net floor length cloth centered
with an arrangement of white
and aqua carnations. White
ribbons extended to each corn-
er ending in nosegays
Punch was served from a cut
glass bowl. The tiered wedding
cake was heavily embossed
with white roses and topped
with a miniature bride and
bridegroom.
