"Nude With Violin" will be pre-
sented in the Fine Arts Auditori-
um Friday and Saturday evening,
Nov. 2 and 3.
The Noel Coward play is -direct-
ed <jby Mason Johnson, head of the
speech-drama depart m e n t. Mr.
Cecil Cole, instructor of speech, is
technical director of the play.
Faculty and students will be ad-
mitted to the production on their
activity cards. General admission
is $1.50.
Necessary changes have been
made in the cast because of the ill-
ness of I.inda Whitley, who was to
have played" the part of Isabel So-
rodin. Jo Lu Moore has been recast
in the part. Linda Heaton will play
Pamela, and "Lewis Miychbanks
will play Fabrice".
Others in the casf will femain as
originally cast. Silas Hughes plays

o
Presented at Opening
Gianna Schicchi, a one-act opera
by Puccini, will be presented at the
formal opening of the newly re-
decorated Fine Arts Auditorium at
>H 8:ir> p.m. Friday, Nov. 9.
Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Armstrong,
whose gift made the renovation
possible, will be presented as hon-
ored guests of President and Mrs.
Law Sone, the Board of Trustees
anil the faculty.
An exhibit by Mr. Henry Lee
Whiddon.^Wt^ instructor, and the
art department will be in the sec-
ond floor corridor of the J^ine Arts
Building.
Following the opera a reception
honoring the Armstrongs will be
held in the Blue Room.
APO's Hold Candy Sale
For Scholarship Fund
Alpha Pi Omega is having a
candy sale which is sponsored
by the East Side Lions Club.
Profits w-ilfe go to the TWC
scholarship fund.
The sale will go on until Hal-
loween and the bags of candy,
which will sell for a dollar, will
contain one hundred pieces.
Glen Huggins, project chair-
man. has directed the construc-
tion of booths iu the Boa/. Stu-
dent Center for the sale, but
candy may alsb be bought from
any APO pledge.

Griffin is also working* on scenery.
Crew heads for properties are

Tommy Kearley, head of the
make-up crew, is assisted by Dick
Hoag, Jonna Rhodes, Sandra Sand-
ers, Pam "Ford and Jo Dobkins.
Jane ]4ftry is in charge of cos-
tumes. Other members of her crew
are Martha Wood, Norma Daubert
and Joyce Hopkins.

Charles Willett, with Steve Wil-
liams and Jerry Seaman assisting
him.
Jack Thompson is house man-
ager. Alpha Phi Omega, national

Gianna Schicchi, a comic opera,
which has its setting in the Flor-
ence, Italy, of 1299, will 15e directed
by Dr. Howard Skinner, director
of choral activities at TWC.
Singing the lead roles will be:
Dr. Skinner, as Gianni Schicchi;
Molly Mitchell, senior voice major,
as Lauretta; Martha Pulliam, Fort
Worth singer, as Zita, and Frank
Stovall, of the Southwestern Bap-
tist Theological Seminary voice
faculty, as Rinuccio.
Others of the cast are Bob Car-
lrt'y Ws Gherardo, Ann Jennings as
Nella, Teresa Skinner, daughter of
Dr. and Mrs. Skinner, as Gherar-
dino and Royce Isha mas Betto.
Also included in the cast are
Mike 'Ferrell as Sipione, Hubert
Hunt as Marco, Marjorie Murphy
as L;i Ciesca, and Donn Cook as
Master Spinelloccio and A mantis
De Nieoluo.
Mrs. Jeatl Alexander, TWC piano
teacher, will be accompanist.
The Speech-Drama 382-b class,
instructed by„Mr. Mason Johnson,
will be in charge of the costumes
and make-up. Scenery will be pro-
vided by the Speech-Drama 323
class under the direction of Mr. Ce-
cil Cole.
According to Dr. Donald Bellah,
chairman of the fine arts division,
invitations are being mailed to (550
college patrons. All students are
urged to attend. Formal wear is
suggested.

High-Ranking Students Recognized
At Alpha Chi Assembly Program
Today's assembly program gave
recognition to high-ranking stu-
dents at TWC.
Miss Peggy Smith, president of
Alpha Chi, introduced the officers,
sponsors and new candidates for
membership.
Special recognition was given to
I>r. and Mrs. H. Howard Hughes,
official sponsors of the Texas Mu
Chapter of the national scholarship
fraternity, Alpha Chi, as ap-
pointed by'the President.
The scholarship committee at
TWC, composed of President Law
Sone, Dean J. Elmer Cox, Regis-
trar Harry Rice and official spon-
sor Dr. Howard Hughes, met Oct.
2-1 and reported the following stu-
dents eligible for candidacy in the
national scholarship society: Royce

Dean of Men Asks
Health Center Aid
Dr. Wallace B. Graves spoke
Thursday night before Methodist
officials of the East and West dis-
tricts urging them to direct their
contributions in the current state-
wide fund Slmpaign toward con-
struction of a $150,000 health cen-
ter at TWC.
Methodists are seeking $32,000,-
000 in their United Capital Funds
Campaign for Texas Methodist
Higher Education.
"A student health center would
help TWC fulfill its two basic
principles — the pursuit of truth
within the Christian cbntext and
making the college the finest un-
dergraduate liberal arts institution
in this area," Dr. Graves said.
" The college's faculty has already
pledged $15,000 for the projects. •
The committee announced the
following students for honorable
mention: Janice Ann Davis, Mary
Frances Young, Janice Ann Powell,
Ruth Helen McClary,Harold E.
Bickley, Andre H. LaDanois, Doris
Christine Reef, Lillian Evelyn Cox,
Francis Ellen Peadon and Gayle

These students have an overall
grade point average of B or above
but have not yet reached the 3.25
•grade point average.
Students eligible for election to
candidacy for membership in Alpha
Chi must have completed at least
one-half the total hours required
for graduation with one-fourth or
more done at TWC.' They must
have a grade point average of
3.25 or above and be taking at
least 12 hours of courses.
SEA Regional Conference
To Be Held on Campus
A Drive-In Conference of the
Student Education Assoc i a t i o n
Chapters of the North'Central Tex-
as Area will, be held Thursday,
Nov. 1, on the Texas Wesleyan
College campus.
Attending this second annual
regional conference will lie repre-
sentatives from Arlington State
Collet, Austin College, Stephen F.
Austin State College, East Texas

University, Southern M e t h o d -
ist University, Texas Christian
University, Texas Women's Uni-
versity, TWC and the University of
Dallas.
Assembling first in the Fine Arts
Auditorium at 9:30 a.m. for a gen-
eral session, the representatives
will later go to the-Student Union
Building for coffee and then to the
second floor of the Administration
Building for a workshop. Lunch
will be served at the Polytechnic
Baptist Church at 12 p.m. with the
final evaluation session held tfygre
immediately following the meal.
