This weekend, Texas Wesleyan
College will be playing host to all
the other colleges and universities
in Texas with the annual TISA
Student Body Presidents and Edi-
tors Conference.
This conference — always an im-
portant one — will be particularly^
signifiefftit...this year in that plans
will be made for TISA's Student
Committee on Higher Education.
This Committee, — representa-
tive of over 150,000 students —-
vwill constitute an active and ef-
fective student .voice in the raising
of the academic standards of the
State of Texas. Some of the pro-
posed activities of the council will
include:

Legislative Lobby — an organiz-
ed student lobby in our state legis-
lature, expressing student, opinion
on matters, expressing higher edu-
cation.
Public Interest — through slate-
wide news coverage, the aims and
needs of higher education will be
made evident. \n the public in every
area of the state. Through this
agency of TISA, the Texas college

TWC Plays Host to State Meeting
Of College Journalists on Weekend
Texas Wesleyan College will host
twenty-one colleges and universi-
ties at the 54th annual Texas In-
"teiXfllft^iate Press Association
Convention April 24 and 25.
Representing the different re-
gions of the Lone Star) state will
be: Abilene Christian College, Ar-
lington State College, Howard
Payne University, McMurry. Col-
lege, Midwestern University; Odes-'
sa Junior College, Pan American
Cpllege, Southwest Texas State
College, St. Edward's University,
and Stephen F. Austin.
In addition Sul Ross State Col-
lege, Tarleton State, Texas Luther-
an College, Texas College of Arts
and Industi'ies, Texas Western, and
West Texas JState College.
Special invitations were extend-
ed to Wayland Baptist College,
Amarillo Coll"P?*^La#KrTort Worth
Christian College. These three!'
schools l^ive shown interest in be-
coming member schools of the
TIP A.
Contests among the member
schools will involve newspapers,,
yearbooks, and magazine entries.
Also individual entries will be sub-
mitted from both newspaper and
literary copy. Last year, Texas
Wesleyan captured first place in
the newspaper division. Certificates"
of award will be presented to the
winners.
The sessions will be divided into
i^yidc categories involving all phases
orjS®MBalistic jn teres ts. Topics will
cover The Journalist in Advertis-
ing, Vfomen in Journalism, and
Censorship in College Press. One
of the main-speakers will be Wal-
ter R. Humphrey of the Fort Worth
Press. Othbr newspaper men from
the Fort Worth-Dallas area will
also be present. In addition, photo-
graphers, yearbook publishers, and
pulflic relation workers will speak.
Further entertainment for the
dQlegatcp will include a tour of the
Fort Worth Star-Telegram •a*a
party at Six Flags Over Texas Fri-
day evening.
The Marley-Stuteville co-editor
team has served as organizations
and activities editors of this year's
TXWECO. Trudy and Jack have
also J)een active Rambler staff
writers. Both are members of the
Press Club and the TW Players.
Stuteviile, a 1963 graduate of
Castleberry High School, served as
editor o^ the^£j^stleberry High
newspaper, ThfPlfoar. He was also
editor and business manager of the

on the Texas Wesleyan College
campus this weekend, April 24 and

MASON JOHNSON
Mason Johnson, head of the
speech-drama department, was
given the Golden Rule award in
last week's assembly.
The Golden Rule is given month-
ly "by the [reshman class to a
faculty member who has gone be-
yond his regular duties in helping
the class.

candidates for 1964-65 cheerleaders
practice and polish their yells and
motions.
Thursday, April 23, is the date
set for, the anhual election which
will -be held during assembly per-
iod. The student body will elect
the two boys and two girls who
will replace this year's holders,
Georgene Fanning, Linda Bald-
ridge, Sargent Hill and Ronnie
Waller.

tion will be to establish a TISA
Student CdmmfUee on Higher Ed-

standards for the students of
Tfxas. 1*1: will be designed to make
definite proposal? which will be
publicized Y!y a TISA news agency.
This will give the college student
a position of responsibility in po-
licy-making affairs.
The representatives will arrive
Friday afternoon. The program for
the conference will be comprised
of group meetings, conferences, and
