With Cass County Schools
Siuce entering upon tne du-
ties of the superintendent's office,
7I have eudevered to make a rap
id survey of the schools of our
county. I have visited 85 of the
white und 25 of the negro
schools* Id most of the schools
the attendance is good. Sever-
al 100 per cent attendence were
noted.
The schools at Forest Hill,
Knight's Bluff, Spencer's< Chap-
el, Lanier and Mt. Zion are bad-
ly handicapped by inadequate
buildings. Several of these
comtnuties are beginning to talk
new buildings. Mt. Zion has
voted bonds for oae. All these
communities should. Their
children deserve better buildings
and equipment.
Many of the negro schools are
still taught iu «>ld churches and
iu shacks not worthy of being
dignified by the name of "school
building." Uuion Chapel,
Springdale, Warren Springs,
Marietta and Cornett districts
have provided good buildings
and equipments for their negro
schools. They received fctnle
aid for tbem ibis year.
State aid is now available to
pay vouchers drawn against that
fund. Only $2 50 per scholastic
has been paid on the state ap-
portionment.
