C C. Hines will leave Sunday
for Marshall, where he will be
engaged in the defense of Stone-
wall Carlile, charged with the
rhurder of John Lance, at Atlan-
ta, Sept. 1st, 1920. This will be
the fourth trial of this case.
Work has been progressing
rapidly on the new ' Methodist
churcb. The brick work seems
to be nearly fiinished and con-
siderable of the wood work has
been done. It is Assuming a
beautiful appcaraoce and will be
a credit to our little city.

This is to advise that a meet-
ing will he held in the District
Court room Saturday, April 16,
at 2 o'clock for the purpose of
perfecting a pnuttry organiza-

organization will he to perfect a

fine meeting with Mrs. Jacksdn,
with other two circles invited as
visitors. Had 35 present at this
meeting. Will meet with Mrs.
Dr. Taylor next meeting and
hope to have a good crowd, as
we have some very important
business to attend to.

and Chairman will call all mem-
bers as to where they will meet, i
It was decided for all members
to save their Sunday eggs aud
bring them to tho church on
Wednesday meeting days.
Had very few at this meeting,
but as sbring is here now, we

Home Demonstration Club met
in home of president, Mrs. John
S. Morris on Thursday, Mar. 31.
House was called to order by
President. After having min-
utes read and approved, each
one responded to t he roll call by
naming some tree or plant na-
tive to this country. The pro
gram was carried out in a most
interesting way, several discus
sions on how to beautify our
yards and lawns.
Glad to enroll some new mem-
bers and also had visitors and a
good crowd present. Hope our
crowds will increase at each
meeting. Next meeting will be
with Mrs Homer Grubbs Thurs-
day, April 1-t. All try to bd
there by one o'clock, as will have
two programs. "Appropiate
house dresses" and "cakes and
iciugs" will be demonstrated, so
be there early.

The play, "The Little Clod
Hopper," which was given at
the school bouse last Friday
night was a great success.
The Huffines Literary League
will give a number of short plays

the League this term. Everyone
is invited to come.
Quite a number of people from
this community motored over to
Pine Island last Sunday to see
the burning gas well, but the
fire had already been extinguish-
ed.
Mr. Mabern Humphrey and
family and Miss Zelphia Hum-
phrey spent Saturday night
with friends in the Good Ex-
change community.
The play, "Little Miss Jack,"
which was rendered here Satur-
day night by the people from the
Almira community was enjoyed
very much.
Mr. and Mrs. Emrnett. Hamil-
ton and Miss Winnie Mitchell,
from Linden, attended the play
here Saturday night and spent
the uight in the home of Mr. Ma-
hern Humphrey.
Our school is still progressing
nicely. The attendance at the
present is about 80 per cent. We
consider this very good for the
time of yepr.
A graduating exercise will be
given here at the close of school
Friday night, April 22. The
graduates are Misses Clara Wil-
liams and Mora Daniels from the
eleventh grade.
Next Sunday, which is the
third Sunday in the month is
our regular preaching day. Ev-
ery one'try to atteud.
Huffines was represented at
the district meet in Texarkaua
in Declamation by Addean Law
and George Hammock. We
didn't win first but were classed
high by the judges.
Miss Katye Hammock, of Vivi-
an La., spent the week end at
home.
