rjr HE object of the Twenty-scc-
jfi ond Annual Convention of the
National Canners' Association
which is to assemble at the Hotel
Stevens in Chicago on January
twenty-first and continue in session
until January twenty-fifth is pri-
marily to exchange ideas on now
to maintain and, if possible, impr-ove
the quality of all the foods that are
canned in this country. Every
phase of the industry is discussed
at this huge convention where
more than eight thousand people,
interested in the commercial can-
ning business, gathered last year,
but in spite of the many major
economic problems to be solved, ex-
actly forty per cent of the formal
addresses delivered at the various
sessions of this Convention held
in the same place last year were
m,de bv scientists from great
IJni-vhfsities, experts from the
United States Departments of Com-

nomics experts in touch with a mul-
titude of housewives, and scientists

Association in its own elaborate re-
search laboratories in Washington,

Truth- and Honesty
The SiJfrft which rules this Con-
vention was admirably expressed in
a recent speech by a high official of
one of the largest companies in the
industry when- he. said;.
"The whole question of the na-
tion's food supply is £i most im-
portant one. In the for*l products
industry lies a very great Oppof-1
tunity and an equally great respon-
sibility. The basis on which canned
foods must be presented to the pub-
lic must be truth on the label—honesty
in the can."
This play will be presented by the Good Mixer Sunday School
Class of the Methodist Church. P.'oceeds to be used in furnishing

to attend. Two hours of good and profitable entertainment if)
