Linden's quota of the Confed-
erate Memorial Coins have all
been sold, and also Cass county's
serially numbered coiu has been
sold for $94 85. Three schools
took part in the contest for this
eoki,"Lanier school winning.

part in contest with number of

County Clerk .1. D. Boon, who
Cad charge of the sale of these
coins, says that if all the 72
white schools of the county had
become interested and turned in
as much on the same ratio as
those above the special \coin
would have brought (as it ought
to have dork") over $2000.00.
The State Fire Insurance Com-
mission in rating towns in Tex-
as is based on the rate on each
towu in proportion to the loss
ratio to the premiums they re-
ceive, on a per centage basis.
Each agent was required to
make a report of the prurniutrrs
collected and the losses paid dur-
ing the years 19231924 apd
1925 and the towns are penalized
or rewarded according to the re-
cord. If the loss is over a cer-
tain per cent the towu is penalis-
ed from 3 per cent to 15 per cent
according to the loss, and if un-
der a certain per cent we get a
discount of from 3 per cent to 15
per ceut.
The loss in Linden, on a per-
centage basis for the three years
was 72.8 per ceut therefore we
have to add 0 per cent to the fi-
nal rate on all insurance written
iu Linden from March 1st.. 1920
to Feb. 2(ich, 1927. Policies
written prior to March 1st, 192G
will not be changed. Linden's
heavy loss was in 1923, being
three dwellings and the frame
buildings on the square, boss
in 1921 was only $10.00 and
1925 was $25.00.
Our understanding of the law
i« if we have no more loss before1
March 1st, 1927, then you will
havf your iusuranee reduced 15
per cent, and every citizen of
Linden should use every precau-
tion to prevent any loss during
this year.
Yours truly,
I. N. Marett,
Henry IX Nelson.
