Jessie Jenkins is a can-
didate for Sheriff of
Collin County. His state-
ment regarding his
candidacy is as follows;
AI am asking for your vote
and support to become
your next Sheriff of
Collin County on Mav 4.
I am 41) years of age
and am married to the
former Dulah Blanken-
ship who was reared in
the Ulue Ridge and
Farmersville area. To
our marriage, we have
one daughter. Nancy,
who is a Junior in the
McKinney High School.
I grew up on a farm in
Culleoka Community. As
a young man, 1 entered
the L'. S. Army April
10, l°41 and received
my Honorable Discharge
May 21. ll>45. I served
4l) months in World War
11. 40 months of that I
served outside of the
United States of America
In 104s and ll 4" 1 was
employed with a Con-
tractor on I avon Dam.
In 1^50 I started farm-
ing in the Clear l ake
Community and lu. r
moved to the Climax
Community.
My home is now McKin-
ney In 105«-> I was
employed at the Jamaca
Company on East Vlr-
ginia Street in Mc Kinney.
On January 1. l^oO I
was employed as a
Deputy Sheriff under
Mrs. Mary Williamsand
then served from Janu-
ary l, H>oi through loo"
as a Deputy She rift under
J. S. (Red)' Hand.
1 want to say to the people
of Collin County, if I
am elected your next
Sheriff on May 4, ll>o!\
I will make every effort
possible to put the
Sheriff's office back in
the Court House. This
will be convenient for
the people who have
business to transact with
the Sheriff's Office. Also
the Sheriff's Office can
do business with other
Offices in the Court
House more conven-
iently.
I also plan to put a man
in the jail to maintain it
under my supervision. I
will make every attempt
possible to put two cars
on night patrol and if
necessary. I will put
three cars on weekends
to protect the citizens
of Collin County. In doing
these things. I feel that
the Sheriff"s department
can answer calls from
the people more suffi-
ciently. 1 know, from my
past experience, these
patrol i' irs are needed at
night
I is difficult to answer
the calls on weekends
with onlv one car. I have
patroled every town,
community, and road in
Collin County. I know
wc are limited to what
we can do with the tax
money we receive. I
further realize that
Collin County is growing
and the more population
we have, the more crime
is going to increase
If I am elected your
Sheriff, the men who
serve under me and I
will give you the best
service possible. I
realize that law enforce-
ment is a big responsi-
bility and I feel that with
my past experience, I am
qualified to serve you as
Sheriff of Collin County.
1 am making this race
at my own expense. I
have not promised
anyone anvthinc nor am
I obligated' to anyone for
anything. It I am elected
Sheriff. I promise to give
you law enforcement to
the best of my ability.
I hope to see each and
everyone 1 can between
now and May 4. ll>oS. I
will appreciate your vote
and influence.
LOCAl
Sincerelj,
Jesse Jenkins
