"1. was very much surprised today;"
said Brown County Bill Dollar "to
leam that the printing craft of
Brownwood pay to their employees
as. salary in a large sum of money
yearly. Piacticaby every cent of this
huge sum is turned back to tHc mer-
chants and banks of Brownwood to
help Brownwood grow."
"Bill" Dollar found himself in the
hands of one of the master printers of.
this city and he listened with muca
interest as he talked to one of his
customers. "It .always makes a printer
feel funny" he su?d. "to receive mail
I from Brown County houses and. Fee
the imprint of a printer from some-
distant city on both the envelope and
.the enclosure.
"There doesot seem to be any rea-
sonable excuse for a practice of this
kind as the Brownwood printers can
meet the Price of any cut of town
houses- when it comes to bidding on
the job. What we have found though
is that a person will conic in and ask
for a price on a run of 10000 of some
lorm for immediate delivery and will
then quote a price he has received
from some out- of town concern that
is much lower.
Prices Quoted on Hi? Lois.
"Because of this discrepancy in
price Brownwood printers lost the
work kp in justice to ourselves we
made an Investigation to find why
there was" such a difference and the
heck-up showed in every instance
that the lower price quoted was for
a run of uO.OGO to ."iOO.000. The small
order Was given 'to tide tho firm ever
until tliey could get the bg ordei de-
livered. If firms that ask for bids' on
work will give the local man the wane
chance that is extended to others a
much more cordial feeling will be the
result.
"What would Brownwood be if it
were not for printers'- ink.'' conmu.e:
the printer. "What a part th printer;

of the constructive work that is going

world than anything els-e. would be
the printing of an attractive booklet
that would fit in v ordinary envelope
and tiieu have them put in every room
in every hotel in thewf Itv.
Nice as honviiirs..
"Brownwood has a constant stream
cf visitors from all ever the country
and they would -welcome a souvenir
of this kind to send to their frivjmli
at home. Thousands of them would
be uied and the good that would cotno
to our city would be incalculable. Tito
printers of Brownwood are not only
anxious to help on something of this
kind but will go out of their way to
nelp in the preparation of this liter-
ature and will help substantially to
tarry the project through."
"The conversation did me a lot ot
