BUSINESS IN BROlYNWOOiy.
The Browriwood' Chamber ' of Com-
merce is expending its area of useful
ness' by the addition of new duties
and responsibilities from day to day
the latest as well aa one of the most
important being that handling all
matters pertaining to freight adjust-
ments inquiries rates and many
other" matters 6f such nature that nr
constantly pomlng to thp surface in
the conduct of mercantile affairs
either on small! or large scale. Tn
this work the Chamber of Commerce
will represent directly ' the South-
west Freight Revising Bureau of Ft.
Worth' Texas. When business man
have any matter couqeming over-
charge or rate adjustment that in
opinion should have attention in-
stead of going into a Lengthy corre-
spondence on the matter from thoir
own' office they will if the matter
concerns the public generally or
similar lines of business plane it. in
the hands of the Chamber of Com-
merce and the matter will be adjust-
ed from-thisi angle.
Salvaging 6000000.00 from over-
charges on freight bills sounds in-
credible to any shipn'er who has not
actually received part of these re-
funds. But even this amount repre-
sents only a- yery small part of the
money 'wasted each year through un-
detected freight bill errors. How
piuch these overcharges are costing
yqu can probably be surmissed from
the fact that less than 10000 repre-
sentative shippers shared in tliw sav-
ing which the Organized Freight
Audit Bureaus colfected last year.
Some shippers had complete Traffic
Departments of their "own but the
greater facilities of the Freight Aud-
it Bureaus secured more accua'e
checking and bfllter results while the
small shippers with. only a few
thousand dollars annual fre'ght ex-
pense got the same expert service as
the larger.
U' S. Government estimates indi-
cate that the possible savings tp the
American shippers which co-operation
with the Freight Audits Bureaus
would reclaim run from fifteen to
thirty millions of dollars annually.
Practically every shipper in America
Is due to be refunded freight over-
charges on shipments since the raili-
roads returned to private control
(which was February 3S 1320 as
welt as on current .shipments. All
that is required Is to forward freight
bills and bills of lading -to the near-
est Bureau.
Sales Not Profitable to
Merchant Or Customer
Should we feature special sales
days and sell stuff at cost and less
we would have to make it up on some-
thing else. There is a certain amount
of expense In any business that has
to be paid out of the profits.
We would rather make an even profit
on everything and make every day a
sales day.
Also we trust you will buy from us
even ifyou do have to pay a little
