'Majy Jane" said Jumbo "if folks only knew how sweet and good
this Mary Jane Syrup is why everybody would eat it all the time''
i NE day tlie circus came to town.
There were trained pigs and
clowns and beautiful ladies rid
ing in chariots nd a cage full of monk-

was the great big elephant Jmg Lin
Ousanni. But everybody called him
Jumbo. .
Jumbo had a very wonderful nose.
It was four feet long. And J;unbo could
wrap' it around a big man and lift the
man right up on his back. Jumbo could
k pick upva pin with his nose. And he
pijt the end of ittght into Uncle Jim's
pocket and took out a lot of peanuts.
Mary Janegct totalldng with Jumbo
niid he told her all "about AfVica and
crocodiles and tfgersJ and jungles
where you get lost right away just as
s'66'n as you stepped off the little path;
r Mary J aner was o pleased tO' hear
Jumbo that she onehed ub her lirribri
basket and brought out two great tig t
slices of bread spread with delicious V
Mary Jane Syrup that she had-for rV.
when she would get hungry from ;
watching the lions. !
She gave one of them to Jumbo arid
he took it right'up and curled his Vsoi
nose around till he put the whole pieoe3
of bread in his mouth at once. "Mafy . I
Jane" said Jumbo if folks only knew
how sweet and good this Mary Jane u .
Syrup is why everybody uithe worH .
would eat it all the TSmi" And Mapr .'
J erne said that's what shetKough Vbut '
she didn't like to say so out loud fop.
Mary Jane Syrup was named after .
her. And then she said "good-bye" tbf
Jumbo and drove home with her Uncle
