'The chairman of the committee an
nounced that after mach consideration
the committee had decided to have a
ball and every guest would be expect
ed to participate. A ball of yarn was
then produced jvhich was thrown and
caught by individuals who must un
wind the 3'arn till a Taper containing
a '"stunt" was found whereupon this
"stunt" was performed and the ball
again tossed. Much mirth and merri-
ment was provoked by the perform-
ance of -these "stunts."
iFollowing this was a "game of con-
undrums in which Mrs. Peyton and
Miss Mary Perkins tied- for honors.
After the games refreshments con
sisting of delicious cake and ice cream
were passed.
It was indeed a very happy occa
sion bringing mother and teaoher
closer together for the great task be-
fore them of trying to make good and
worthy citizens of our boys and
girls.

Mrs. J. Stewart Cleveland and Mrs
Guy L. Jones entertained friends at
their beautiful "Ivory Villa" home on
Tuesday to meet Mrs. J. W. Cleveland
of; Houston.
The home with its artistic and beau-
tiful interior decoration claimed
spring blossoms fpr the floral llouch-
esi "Roses of red were favored in the
livjng room and for the music" room
pink was chosen wrought in roses and
apple blossoms. The dining froom
was decorated in white cyclamen and
roes of white.. The table was center-
ed; with a rare lace cover and set with
a silver tea service. Pink carnations

surrounded by white cyolamen j with
sliver candlesticks holding pink tap-
ers and silver receptacles of delica-
cies were details of a lovely table ap-.

Mrs. Cleveland was handsomely
gowned in blue canton crepe beaded in
irridescent beads and wore a corsage
bouquet of gold and pink snap drag-

ronment the members met for their
regular April meeting.
Mrs. J. H. Grove the leader had pre
viously -arranged a most instructive
program on "Modern. Legisla.tldn."
Mrs. Grove divided her topic into four
distinct subjects which were assigned
to members each of whom gave in-
formative talks on their ..subjects:
First "The Ballot for Women" Mrs.
Harry W. McGhee; second' "Immigra
tion Laws" Mrs. John W Goodwin;
third "The Farm Loan Act and the
Farm Loan Banks and Benefits" Mrs.
Ruth McQueen; fourth "The Eigh
teenth Amendment" Mrs. Grove.
The president then took charge of
the meeting. Two Important commu-
nications were read. Mrs. Ruth Mc-
Queen chairman of the program com-
mittee for next year made a "report
stating that the committee decided upon-
the request of the members that
shorter programs be given anil the .roil
call be answered with different topics
of- interest. This committee further
recommended that leaflets be Used
for the programs of next year instead
of the booklets which were used this
year.

annual social meeting and open ses-
sion announced that the meeting will
be at her home with Mesdames Thom-
as A Stancliffe Jr. BertHurlbut Por-
ter and Miss Cora Lee hostesses. This
meeting closes the club year.
The question of more money for the
treasury was discussed and upon
agreement the initiation fee and dues
will be increased. A committee com-
posed of Mesdames R. B. Rogers J.
Walter Taber and' Ed B. Gilliam were
appointed to amend the constitution
which will be presented at thq May
meeting.
A social hour; was then enjoyed
when Mrs. Walker served a delectable
salad and ice plate of refreshment

in honor of Miss Pauline Ragsdale of

appearance of the Rev. Taylor to per
form the ceremony. The wedding
was a simple and informal affair the
bride being attended by Miss Pauline
Ragsdale and the groom by Mr. Hu-
bert" Adkins. The bride was charming-
ly attired in a navy blue coat suit and
accessories to match'' and carried a

tion of a romance which had its

her many other accomplishments she

between her and Dr. Ragsdale that

dale likewise is universally popular

The refreshing colors of pink and
white appeared with each of the seven
courses in which the luncheon was

In the afternoon a number of friends ;
came in and innumerable pretty fea-
tures were added to the flower party1
to make the afternoon one of pleas-
ure for all. As guests entered each
wrote a wish to the bride in a lovely
book each page of which was adorn
ed with roses. A "Flower romance"
was one of the very entertaining fea-
tures of the party with handkerchiefs
as thetJ favor for the successful con-
testant but the crest of beauty and
of pleasure came for the bride-to-be
when she was presented an enormous
May basket filled with perfect blos-
soms of the favored flowers and. found
at the root of each flower a dainty gift
from her assembled friends.
The serving of delicious sandwich-
es and ices 'terminated the delightful

Miss Fellanrf was gowned in a very
lovely brown taffeta of modish cut
and wore a picture hat of blue. Friends
are delighted that Miss .Felland will
continue to make her home in Abi-
lent where Mr. Davies Is connected

labor reports farm hands going back
