TUB NATIONAL CAMPAIGN FUND.
The investigation being made by
congress into campaign contributions
reveals the deplorable fact that in
times past the trusts big corporations
and protection seeking interests of the
country have at least (been indirectly
contributing vast sums to presidential
campaigns. It is not to be expected
that such immense contributions
cessity for a campaign of the stale
but there are doubtful states in whim
a hard fight must be made if Wilson
is to win and riioncy will be required-
to campaign those states not a slush j
fund for improper uses but mei-et
the means to properly present the 1
Democratic claims to the people of
the doubtful states and to arouse the
i. enthusiasm necessary to give Demo- j
crats that prospect of success that
m
White
will bring the wavering to them.
The eleclion of Wilson concerns
Texas Just as much as it does any-
other state In the anion. Texas Dem-
ocrats will largely reap the benefits
of a Wilson administration. Being the
first to rally to his standard In the
event of his election this state will
certainly bo among the first to re-
ceive his favorable consideration when
he Is elected. Considered from a sel-
fish standpoint Texas should be
among the largest contributors to the
Wilson campaign fund. This state is
saved the expense of a campaign

Texas may not have a bumper crop
this year but when compared with
any other state Texas certainly looks
mighty good. The state Is doing
things worth while now.
It fs expensive to keep vacant lots

holding such property for an increase
