The Reporter has no desire to enter
-r.t- enrf of controversy 'with
any man and least of all with the
Parson. The Parson and his column
are separate and distinct from any
other department of the Bulletin and
what may be written in the Parson's
Column is of no concern to the Re-
porter in any greater measure than
to any other reader. There seems
however xo be a difference belwecn
the dictionaries used by the Parson
and that dog-eared 'volume in whteh
the Bulletin force seeks knowledge.
The Vord "obligor" which is miss-
ing from all the dictionaries in which
the Parson is accustomed to search
is given in Webster's new interna-
tional dictionary as a perfectly good
word meaning "one Who obligates
himself to another." Xot the office
cat but the office imp has been imp
ing around again mixing up the lines
and destroying the sense of some of
the Parson's ideas after they were
correctly written for publication.
Without intending to criticise; and in
quest only of information exception
is taken to the word "despatch" as
used by the Parson. It is not giv-
en in the dictionaries available in t.iis
office "Dispatch" is the only word
which is" permissible according to
Webster.
