the vote of Saturday's nrlmarv elnr-
ktion correctly tabulated so the exact
majority may be ascertained but the
unofficial reports show that Bailey and
his ticket were elected by perhaps 25-
uuo votes. The San Antonio Express
a Bailer paper says the vote was any-
thing but expected and entirely - dis
couraging. On the other hand the
ni.-ontv xorces ieei tuat they have
Von a great victory even though their
ticket could not he elected.
Perhaps the most obvious circum
stance in the returns is that those
counties largely inhabited by German-
have gone for .the Bailey ticket. Th-s
were evidently convinced that Senator
Bailey is o longer a state prohibi-
tionist. It is no less apparent that Senator
Bailey ran especially strong in Sour)
- ast Texus or the lumber and ul
region.

Brown County. -
The Brown county election proved a
surprise to the Bailey forces by giving
the- Johnson ticket a small majority.
The town went for Bailey by seven
votes the fight being the hardest ever
pulled off In the city. The anti-Bailey
faction feels that the county would
naturally have gone two to one for
Builey hut for the determined fight
and the Bailey people give the credit
of victory to the fact that both repre-
sentatives and two papers were for
the Johnson ticket. Here are the re-
turns from the county:
