Have you not already waited too long to prepare for Spring and Summer ? You have seen
the crowds in our store ? Does that not tell you that the choice things for the season are fast dis-
appearing ? Remember too the sooner you get your things the longer you will have to enjoy
them. Why not come in tomorrow and get that new suit or that new pair of shoes or that new
Dress you have been planning for? Now is the best time. Delay the matter very much longer
and you may be compelled to take that which you do not like. Be on the safe side and come
early.

The Editor's Rambles.
The following" from the West
Texas Evangel edited by Rev.
J. M. Dawson of the Baptist
church and published at Abilene
is so good that it is reproduced
in full with the statement which
the Bulletin has before thought
of making that Mr. Dawson is
doing credit to himself and his
church with his paper:
"I spent the first Sunday at
Brownwood preaching for Pastor
Geo. W. McCall who was in
Lampasas in a meeting. I ar-
rived via Dublin on the Frisco
and so encountered a hilarious
crowd of schoolboys who were
returning from Greenville where
the representative of Howard
Payne Mr. Chas. Pierce with
an oration entitled "The Price
of Victory." won first place in
the State Prohibition Contest.
There were eight colleges and
universities represented includ
ing Baylor and Southwestern.
Upon returning the victor was :
met at the station by the stu- j
dents faculty and friends of.
Howard Payne. The band play-:
ed and the celebration which fol-!
lowed baffles description. The
crowd was provided with torch
lights and lungs and wagons and
with these furnishings it suc-
ceeded in taking the town;
Brownwood showed herself proud
of the splendid victory won by i
her institution.

in Texas. The enrollment this
year is about three hundred 'and
fifty. President Grove spoke
hopefully of the future. There
is much talk of a big . dormitory
for young ladies. It is much
needed and we trust that an
answer to the longings and pray-
ers of manv will be found. We
also heard much among the stud-
ents about the debate with Sim-
mons on which occasion a large
crowd of Howard Payne students
will accompany their speakers to
Abilene. Great interest attaches
to this debate. Last year Sim-
mons won.
Brownwood Church.
"For many years this great
church has lead the Central West
in good works. The building is
of brown stone commodiousand
located near the business sec-
tion in the center of the town.
It is well furnished and is equip-
ped with a beautiful pipe organ.
Prof. J. S. Humphries is superin-
tendent of the Sunday school.
He is progressive and aggressive
and there is an air of activity
and growing life about the ex-
ercises. The attendance was
over three hundred on this Sun-
day. The crowd which assem-
bled for the preaching hour was
very large and I was told that
when the pastor is at home and
there is no revival meeting in
progress at other churches as
there was at this time the audi-
ences are even larger. Brother
McCall has just finished preach-

much attention and evoked much
favorable comment. There' are
constant additions by baptism
and the gifts of the church are
increasing all the time. It did
me good to see the vast throng
of young people and to be with
them in their meeting on Sun-
day afternoon. The great church
of six or seven hundred in mem-
bership has a united step a for-
ward look and a victorious faith.
A Glimpse of Brownwood.
"It was my delight to he in the
home of Deacon J. A. Walker.
That home is one of the many
fine residences of Brownwood
ranging in cost from fiy to
thirty thousand dollars. - Broth

Christi for his health but I was :
graciously entertained by his es-
timable family and Prof. J. G.
; Iilff came to take me for an auto
'drive over the city and vicinity.
! I was impressed with a number
of features of the town. One of
'these is its civic pride. Magnifi
cent stone church buildings
( public school buildings. Carnegie
library court house hotels com-
j pare with those of our best Tex-
as cities. The business houses
are in the main substantial if
J they are built along a cow trail
which seems uncertain as to
f where it is going. Nature has
fmade a generous contribution
toward the attractiveness of the
place. On one side is a stream.
of pure water on another are
restful hills and the valley in
which the city nestles is shaded
by graceful trees. Brownwood
is a cleanmoral town and seeks
to give the pre-eminence to ed-
ucation righteousness and the
development of worthy enter
prises. As such it deserves to
lead and should take the lead in
its section.
