Quilt and Bake
Sale
After working hard to pay
for their new piano in a
little more than 3 months,
the members of Sachse
Assembly of God Church
are enthused and working
toward a new goal in their
building fund. The ladies
have been busily quilting
and have completed several
quilts which will be on dis-
play and for sale December
2, at the Community Center
in Sachse. At this time they
will also have a large selec-
tion of freshly made home-
baked desserts for sale.
These baked goods will de-
light any family and most
items may be frozen now
and served later. The Miss-
ionettes have been making
some beautiful Christmas
ornaments and gifts which
they have donated to the
sale. In addition to all this
the youth have a supply of
Funds-APopping Popcorn
for sale. This is delicious
popcorn which comes in
handy pre-measured paks
that include the cooking oil
and salt.
The Holiday Sale begins
at 9:00 AM at the Commu-
nity Center, Saturday
December 2nd.

Sachse's Sales
Tax Increased
AUSTIN, Tex. - - State Comptroller
Boh Bullock said Texas cities will receive
$19.8 million as their November share of
the local option one percent sales tax.
Money that Texas cities will receive
this month total slightly less than last
month's rebate, but the yearly total is
about $42 million ahead payments made
over the same period last year.
The November checks raise the cities'
total to $349.8 million.
Hoston's check this reporting period
will be $4 million, raising its total for the
year to $73.3 million, up 17 percent over
last year.
The city of Dallas will receive $2.3
million, bringing its total for the year to
$40.9 million, up 9 percent.
San Antonio will get a check for $1.1
million, making its year to date total
$20.1 million, up 9 percent.
Fort Worth's check for the month
totals $806,717, raising its total to $14.5
million, and Austin will get $600,777, for
a total of $11.7 million for the year.
Corpus Christi will receive $373,898,
raising its total for the year to $7 million.
Sachse's 1978 payments to date has
been $4,159.80. This is a 28% increase
over the same period last year of
$3,226.98.
The sales tax is collected by merchants
and other sales tax permit holders along
with the state sales tax and is rebated
monthly to cities in which it is collected
by the Comptroller's Office.
COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS
The Sachse Christian Church
will hold it's annual Christmas
Cantata Sunday evening, Dece-
mber 17, beginning at 7:00 p. m.
The Cantata itself will be a
short narration of the Christ-
mas story illustrated by song.
Following the Cantata will be
a caroling around the Christ-
mas tree, with refreshments,
and a visit from Santa Claus.
Sachse Christian views this
as a Sachse community event
and warmly encourages each
and everyone to participate
in it.
Fireman and
Auxiliary's
Christmas Dinner
Planned
At the November 21st meeting of the
Sachse Ladies Auxiliary to the Volunteer
Fire Department, new officers were
elected and plans were made for a
Christmas dinner for the Firemen, Ladies
Auxiliary and their families to be held at
the Sachse Christian Church on Saturday,
December 16, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Plans were made for the Auxiliary's
Christmas dinner. This dinner will be for
members of the Auxiliary and their
guests, it will be held at the Sachse
Community Center on Tuesday, Decem-
ber 19, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
The following officers were elected
and will take office January 1979.
