Twin Lakes Developer John Tobin, Wylie Librarian Rosanne
Burgess and Beth Brewster go over plans for the spring break
reading program getting under way soon for students in all
Wylie elementary schools, Sonlight Learning Academy and
Wylie Christian Academy. Twin Lakes and The Wylie Sentinel
are sponsors of the program. Brewster, last year's Summer
Reading Club director, will handle the special March 7, 14 and 21
sessions at the Wylie Public Library which will include stories
and activities. Call the library for information.
Wylie Library Offers
Egg-Citing Reading Program
"Egg-Citing Reading Ad-
ventures"-^ program design-
ed to promote the enjoyment
of reading--is being conduct-
ed at the Wylie Public Library
and will be culminated at
Easter.
Co-sponsored by The Wylie
Sentinel and Twin Lakes, the
program is aimed at element-
ary school children.
Registration sheets have
been distributed at all Wylie
elementary schools, Sonlight
Learning Academy, and Wylie
Christian Academy.
In all, 1,256 children have
been invited to participate
free in a number of activities.
The registration forms car-
ried an Easter egg (to be col-
ored by the registrant) and
registration blank which will
be used to build a data base
of names for flyers to be
mailed about summer reading
program activities, starting in
May.
tgg-Citing Reading Ad
ventures" will feature a spec-
ial story hour and activities
each Tuesday, starting at 7
p.m., with Beth Brewster, last
year's Summer Reading Club
director and a third grade
teacher at Akin Elementary
ochool, in charge.
These sessions will be held
March 7, H and 21, and
Librarian Rosanne Burgess
suggests small children may
want to come in pajamas or
sleepers, ready for bed.
Activities and book tales will
be held throughout Spring
Break week prior to Easter
Definite times and activities
depend on the number of
children enrolled.
On Friday, March 24, there
will be a party for all partici-
pants, with certificates and
prizes awarded, in the Com-
munity Room of the Library.
"This reading program is
strictly for fun and entertain-
ment. Prizes will be awarded
by drawing, not by how many
books read," Burgess said.
When registered, the child
will receive a colored folder
with a reading log and puz-
zles, games, etc., to take
home.
"Each time he or she reads
three books, they can fill out
a cardboard "egg" and place
in a basket for drawings at the
party," Burgess added.
She thanked the two spons-
ors, The Wylie Sentinel (Don
Swanson, publisher) and Twin
Lakes ('John Tobin, develop-
er), for their participation.
"Both of these companies
want to see the Library
expand services to Wylie
children and provide learning
activities that are fun, as well
as educational," Burgess said
