Wylie ISD Board, Land Board
Attempt to Improve Communications
Tom Hickey and John Hart-
ley, WISD ag teachers, are
drafting proposals for what is
needed. They do not have
cost estimates at this time.
After years of bickering, the
Wylie ISD Board of Trustees
and members of the Birming-
ham Land Board was sched-
uled to meet at 7:30 p.m.
Monday in the WISD Adminis-
tration Bldg. in an effort to es-
tablish good communications.
WISD Board President Linda
Brune, in a letter to the Land
Board, requested that the first
meeting between the two
Boards be for members only
(excluding Supt. Don Whitt
and Land Board Executive Di-
rector Bill Lewis.)
In making the request, she
was acting on advice of a
majority of the WISD Board.
One of the first items to be
considered is a WISD request
for a swine barn and, possibly,
a show barn.
"The need exists because of
increased enrollment in the
Agriculture Department, along
with a significant increase in
the number of swine pro-
jects," Brune said.
In his reply on behalf of the
Land Board, Chairman John
Akin said Harold Montgomery
and K.C. Swayze have been
appointed as official members
of a committee to formulate a
request for such a facility.
A committee of Brune, Bill
Collins, and Ted Trimble will
draw up a formal request for
the WISD Board, including
what is wanted, the design,
estimated cost, etc.
