LETTERS
Dear Editor;
Articles in the July 21 and
Oct. 20 issues of The Sachse
Sentinel state that Mayor
Larry Holden is president of
Region 13 of the Texas Muni-
cipal League and a member of
the Metroplex Mayor's Com-
mittee and the Dallas
Regional Mobility Coalition.
I would like to point out that
the citizens, the taxpayers,
the stockholders of Sachse
Day the membership dues to
these organizations.
Most professional organiza-
tions require dues in order to
function effectively. The City
of Sachse pays a total of
Luna s LIFE classes enjoyed a picnic in Evelyn Griegyl's back $1,652 to belong to the Texas
yard recently Left to right are Travis Johnson, Michael Municipal League, the
Anderson, Chad Walls, and Brett Smith. Metroplex Mayor's Commit-
tee, and the Dallas Regional
Mobility Coalition.
Therefore, because the City
of Sachse pays for the dues,
the citizens, the taxpayers,
the stockholders of Sachse
are the real members of these
organizations - not the
mayor.
The purpose of this letter is
not to discredit our Mayor,
who spends a great deal of
time to represent us in these
committees. I only want read-
ers to understand the facts.
Respectfully,
Randy Glover
Sachse City Councilmember

Ask Your
Funeral
Director
MARION D. WILLIAMS
(Q) Is embalming required by law?
(A) Embalming is required only when a deceased
person is to be transported by train or plane or is to be
held over a period of time without refrigeration.
Embalming is practiced in the U.S. because of our
attitude toward public health and our concept of the
funeral as a religious ceremony.
Because the U.S. is so large and people move about so
much, it is not unusual when a funeral is delayed until
the arrival of relatives. If there were no embalming, the
funeral would have to be held shortly after death.
Americans are basically religious, and funeial services
are occasions when members of the family gather to
recognize that God's will has been accomplished. The
professional competence of our staff at the Williams
Funeral Directors is one of the factors that makes a
funeral possible and perhaps even a bit easier to
accept.

Sachse Council
(Continued from page 1)
non-conforming use status of
the arena.
In preparation for the
agenda item to accept Davis
Estates, the council, city
manager, city engineer and
developers, Mike Foster and
Montie Moore, visited the
subdivision site just prior to
the start of the regular
meeting. Several problems
were noted.
After an extensive
discussion about the problems
during the meeting, the item
was tabled. It was agreed,
however, that a committee
composed of Mayor Pro-Tem
Becker, Councilman Jones,
City Manager Lloyd
Henderson, City Engineer
Travis Roberts and the
developers will meet to work
out a revised punch list for
the subdivision's acceptance.
In other action, the council:
--Passed a proclamation con-
gratulating the Golden Gross
Fund for their 70 years of
providing special medical
assistance for those in need.
--Approved an ordinance
setting council meetings of
Nov. 16 and Dec. 7 as public
hearing dates on the annexing
into the city limits of two
"orphan" roads; about 500
feet of Sachse Road at the
Muddy Creek bridge and the
southern half of Elm Grove
Road from Pleasant Valley to
the power distribution lines.
