Atlanta Garden Ciub
The lovely home of Mrs. J. W.
Harrell on the Shreveport high-
way was the place of meeting of
the garden club Friday afternoon,
Dec. 6th. Mrs. Harrell was assisted
by Mesdames A. W. Kennedy and
D. D. Aken.
This being the Christmas pro-
gram the reception rooms were
beautifully decorated suggestive of
the season. The table was laid with
a cutwork cloth centered with an
antique Epergne which was built
up with red carnations and green
satin bows, forming a Christmas
tree. Flanking the tree were the
satin bows interspersed with gold
and silver china Christmas bells,
tied with metallic. The buffet held
a crystal epergne with red casna-
tions and flanked by candelabra
which held chartreuse tapers.
After a short business meeting
Mrs. Jay Clements led the pro-
gram, first presenting Mrs. T. L
Nichols who gave "Christmas in
the Garden." She told of the va-
rious plants and flowers to be
planted to reveal the beauty of the
holidays.
Mrs. Roy Gibbs gave as the
Christmas reading the beautiful
and timely story "Why the Chimes
Rang," by Raymond McDonald.
Mrs. Fouche reviewed the "Fruit
of God's Land," comparing the dif
ferent fruits with scriptures.
Mrs. Hershel Hanner, accompan
ied by Mrs. Max Fore, brought the
Christmas music in song.
A salad plate, with the delica-
cies, was served from a tea table
with Mrs. Christine Rutherford
and Mrs. Mamie Ruth Craig serv-
ing.
