■Symphony season ends in space
The Garland Symphony Orchestra's "British
Invasion" comes to a conclusion at 8 p.m. Friday, May
11, with Hoist's "The Planets."
"'The Planets' takes you on a space odyssey, each
movement musically describing the astrological and
mythological associations of the seven planets," said
Robert Carter Austin, the symphony's music director.
Tickets are priced from $15 to $45 and are available

■WBd Ride! will benefit cancer center
The fourth annual Wild Ride! bike rally will be held
May 19. Cyclists may register to ride 16,40 or 64 miles
on routes starting in Richardson and passing through
Piano, Murphy, Wyiie, Garland, Lavon, Nevada and
Josephine.
Registration is $25 before May 1 and $35 after May
1. The first 1,500 registrants get a free T-shirt.

Shaped Beam Surgery1™' program and Richardson
Regional Cancer Center.

■Grief recovery seminars begin May 22
Grief Recovery, an educational seminar and support
group for adults experiencing grief, is being offered at 7
p.m. Tuesday by the First United Methodist Church of
Rockwall.
The sessions run for six weeks from May 22 through
June 26.
A $15 fee covers the cost of materials, but scholar-
ships are available.
Advance registration is required, and the deadline to
sign up is 4 p.m. Thursday, May 17.

Hunter's Place Searching for a
Star finals will be one of the high-
lights of this year's Live! in Wylie
summer concert series.
In its seventh year, the concerts
run throughout June and July and
also include the city's Fourth of July
celebration.
The concerts offer a free evening
of family entertainment in one of the
city's parks.
"All citizens are encouraged to
come to one or more of the concerts,
bring a blanket and enjoy Live! in
Wylie," said Public Information
Officer Mark Witter.
Concessions will be available at
each concert. City ordinances pro-

This year, the Second Annual
Wylie Public Safety Expo will be
held in conjunction with the
Independence Day Celebration. The
Expo features safety information*
booths and demonstrations by Wyli\#

town in connection with the Wylie
Downtown Merchants July Jubilee
Street Dance.
