New systems assist police
continued from page 1A
The new radio console will inte-
grate with other recently purchased
systems which include the comput-
er-aided dispatch, records manage-
ment and mobile software pro-
grams.
"The CAD program is a method
of dispatching taxicabs, couriers,
field-service technicians, or emer-
gency services assisted by comput-
er," Cassidy said.
"It can either be used to send
messages to the dispatcher via a
mobile data terminal and/or used to
store and retrieve data such as radio
logs, field interviews, client infor-
mation and schedules,"
Cassidy said the central idea is
that persons in a dispatch center are
able to easily view and understand
the status of all units being dis-
patched.
CAD provides displays and tools
so that the dispatcher has an oppor-
tunity to handle calls for service as
efficiently as possible.
The system also integrates with
the 911 system, auto-populates
information from 911, integrates
with mobile units, and provides
records management and AVL map-
ping.
"The RMS is the practice of iden-
tifying, classifying, archiving, pre-
serving and destroying records,"
Cassidy said.
"It is the field of management
responsible for the efficient and sys-
tematic control of the creation,
receipt, maintenance, use and dispo-
sition of records, including the
processes for capturing and main-
taining evidence of and information
about business activities and trans-
actions in the form of records."
Cassidy said the RMS is integrat-
ed with CAD and the mobile units.
"Ft allows reports to be completed
from patrol cars and allows records
such as reports and photos to be
accessible from the patrol cars," he
said.
Cassidy said the mobile software
allows officers to receive CAD calls
to laptops mounted in patrol cars.
"It is important for the city to
provide its citizens with the most
technologically advanced police
force we can," Mayor Mike Felix
said.
"Our police officers are dedicat-
ed, and I am pleased that we are
able to provide the tools they need
to maximize efficient service."

years. Felix and Stanley have filed
their second campaign finance
reports.
The first report was due 30 days
prior to the election date with the

Stanley named ATS Business
Services, TREPAC Association of
Realtors, Hugh Cairns and Mark
Hibbs as political contributors.
According to the Dallas County
Web site, 188 Sachse residents par-
ticipated in early voting.
City Secretary Terry Smith said
on Election Day, Dallas County
Sachse residents will vote at Sachse
City Hall, while Collin County
Sachse residents must vote accord-
ing to their precinct number.
Precinct 56 voters will cast their
ballots at Wylie Bible Church, 109
W. Jefferson and Precinct 153 vol
ers will go to Southfork Mobile
Home Park, 216 Southfork Blvd in
Wylie.
On election day the polls will be
open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Results will be available at city
hall as soon as possible after the
polls close.
Also on the May 12 ballot is a
Texas constitutional amendment
that would allow the legislature to
provide tax relief for elderly or dis-
abled homeowners who didn't
receive tax relief from the school
tax reduction passed by the 79th
Legislature.
The proposal reads: "The consti-
tutional amendment authorizing the
expenses
legislature to provide for a reduction
of the limitation on the total amount
of ad valorem taxes that may be
imposed for public school purposes
on the residence homesteads of the
elderly or disabled to reflect any
reduction in the rate of those taxes
for the 2006 and 2007 tax years."
Voters will vote for or against the
measure.
