Proper Child Diet
Dramatised
Lubbock, April 3—Enthusiam for
eating by children Is being used
by Miss Beryl CUne, Home Eco-
nomics graduate student of Texas
Technological College, to conduct
a health class in a Lubbock public
grade school.
Each week Miss Cllne, working
In cooperation with the Red Cro3s,
conducts a class on "Food for the
Growing Boy and Girl" at Roscoe
Wilson school. In the nutrition
lesson she graphically shows what
milk, cereals, whole wheat bread,
fruits and vegetables do for the
child in vigor and growth. Then
she lets the children eat proper
foods.
Two white rats, "Mr. Coffee" and
"Mr. Milk," also are used in the
teaching. The first gets coffee and
white bread, the second milk and
whole wheat bread. Mr. Milk" has
gained weight and has soft, shiny
fur, while "Mr. Coffee" hasn't
gained as much and his fur isn't
as pretty.
The children, feeling sorry for
the poor rat, have asked Miss
Cllne to let him have some milk
and whole wheat bread. Children
of other rooms of the school and
from other schools have requested

PAYING TAX 'STRIPS' HIM
Now that a certain fatal dead-
and Mrs. Lester H. Parker line is scheduled not to cast Its
shadows for another year, perhaps
the average taxpayer, relaxed and
breathing freely once more, may
enjoy hearing the funniest story of
1947 concerning the eternal reve-
nue man.
It seem a middle-aged taxpayer
appeared before United States
Deputy Collector Frances A. Dai-
ton in the Federal Building at
Rochester, N. Y. He had himself
a problem.
"I owe the Government $27.37,"
he said, "but it's sewed on the
inside of my underwear, and I
can't get it out in front of all
these people."
Mr Delton led the way to an
unoccupied cashier's booth and
then stood guard, while the frus-
trated taxpayer got the money to
meet Unce Sam's bill. "This," said
Mr, Dalton, "is the first time I've
ever had to strip a customer to
get his tax."
