Club to Meet
The North Armstrong Club is to.
meet Thursday afternoon, Nov. 5th,
at 2:00 o'clock with Mrs. J. W.
Driskill. We are going to fix a
box of clothing for Koreans and
bring your old toys so we can give
them to the firemen in Amarillo to
repair for the children's home for
Christmas, also bring along your
white elephant for a swap party.
Needlecraft Club
Holds Meeting
The Needlecraft Club met Oct.
15 with Mrs. Lela Cope, with Mrs.
N. S. Bagwell as co-hostess.
A quilt was quilted for the Ama-
rillo Preventorium and a nice box
of cup towels, wash rags, pillow
cases, towels, glasses, clean rags, to
go with the quilt.
Members present were: Lola Dye,
Ozella Coin, Lena Patterson. Gla-
dys Posey, Mable Bloomer, Gladys
Kitzler, Minnie Dye, Bertha Jones,
Alpha Jasper, Belle Brunson. Edna
Bagwell, Ethel Gillham, Olive Bag-
well, fmma Bagwell, Gertie Lut-
trell and the hostesses, Mrs. Lela
Cope, and Mrs. N. S. Bagwell. Visi-
tors were: Rebecca Cobb, Ollie Cobb
and Connie Cope.
A call meeting was held at
Mrs. Cope's on Oct. 13 to quilt a
quilt for Olive Bagwell. Those pre-
sent were Hazel Darnell, Bertha
Jones, Lela Cope, Mable Bloomer,
Alpha Jasper, Emma Bagwell, Lela
Cope, Susan Bagwell, Lena Patter-
son, Gladys Posey, Gladys Kitzler,
Effie Wertenberger. Visitor was
Mrs. Ida B. Sullivan.

Honored on
80th Birthday
Mrs. W. T. Smith celebrated her
80th Birthday Oct. 18 in the home
of her son, Mr. and Mrs. Joe
Smith, Maypearl, Tex. All 9 of her
children, 11 grandchildren, 9 great-
grandchildren, a host of other re-
latives and friends, 52 in all, were
present for the occasion and to
wish her many more happy birth
days. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Smith
and Ruth returned Monday.
CWF Meets
In Church
The Christian Women's Fellow-
ship of the First Christian Church
met in the choir room of the
church Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 9:30
o'clock in the morning.
In the absence of the President,
Mrs. C. B. Hunter and Vice-Presi-
dent, Mrs. Vernon Hudson, Mrs.
Ammon Woodward acted as chair-
man and called the meeting to
order for business session and pro-
gram.
After the minutes of the previous
meeting were read, a motion was
made and carried that the CWF
would conduct a food sale and
bazaar the first Saturday in De-
cember (Date December 5th). Also
a motion was carried to send a
box to Juliet Fowler Orphan's
Home.
The meeting was turned over to
Mrs. Jim Tarwater, who led a
very interesting lesson on "Spanish
Speaking Americans." Programs 3
and 4. Those taking parts on the
program were Mmes. I. N. Collins,
Cope, G. O. McMillan, Alfred Reck,
Wilbur Cobb, M. F. Bailey and Am-
mon Woodward. Mrs. McMillan pro-
nounced the closing prayer.
We were sorry several of our
members were unable to attend be-
cause of bad roads and sickness.

Elects Officers
The B's 4-H Club met in Mrs.
Bannister's office to elect officers
on Oct. 19, 1953. They are: Presi-
dent, Janie Harred: Vice-President,
Judy Hood; Secretary and Treasur-
er, Virginia Harred; Reporter, Jan-
ie Byard; Council Delegates, Doris
Robinson and Lolita Harred; Song
Leader, Jane Hunt.
The club membership thanks the
B's HD Club for the help with the
bake sale last Saturday.
Unity Study Club

The Unity Study Club met Octo-
ber 22 in the home of Lillie B.
Bagwell. The program which was
to have been the showing of some
club movies and stills, was post-

Erlene Crownover as hostess on
October 14th at 2:30 p. m. We had
a short business meeting. Plans
were made for the annual carnival
which will be held at the Com-
munity Center on October 30th.
[Everyone is invited and bring your
friends along. The time of the
club meetings was set up to 2 o'-
clock instead of 2:30 for the winter
months. After the meeting deli-
cious refreshments were served to

for new books and other reading
material.

SUGAR and Spice Puffs will bring
the family hurrying to the
breakfast table. Combine Vi cup
raisins with 2 cups biscuit mix, z,->
cup milk and 2 tablespoons melted
shortening. Drop dough by table-
spoonfuls into a mixture of 3 table-
spoons brown sugar and Vz tea-
spoon cinnamon. Place sugar side
up on greased baking sheet and
bake in a hot oven for 15 minutes.
Secret to making chocolate-cov-
ered raisins is to melt the choco-
late slowly over hot water. Use 8
ounces semi-sweet chocolate for 2
cups raisins. Stir raisins in choco-
late, then drop by spoonfuls onto
waxed paper.

spaghetti sauce by adding ripe olive

Bee Club Meets
The Fairview Busy Bee Club met
at Mrs. Lee Goodin's house on
September 9th at 2:30 p. m. The
program consisted of the election
of officers. The new president to
be elected was Mrs. George Wil-
moth; Vice-President, Mrs. Lena
Triplett, Sec.-Treas., Mrs. Juanita
Crownover, Ass. Sec., and reporter,
Mrs. Elsie Hill. After the meeting
had adjourned there was a pink
and blue shower held for Mrs.
Corethia Brown. Delicious refresh-

RECIPE OF THE WEEK
Cranberry Pear Relish
1 1-pound can wfcc:2 cran-
berry sauce
1-2 fresh pears, cored, peeled,
diced
% lemon, put through food
chopper (rind and all)
1 teaspoon powdered ginger
Combine ingredients and let
stand several hours for flavors
to blend. Serve with chicken,
turkey or pork.

Quickest way to make pickled:
peaches is to use canned ones. Heat
the peaches, syrup included with 2
tablespoons vinegar and a teaspoon
each of cinnamon and cloves. Sim-
mer 5 minutes. Serve with sliced
cold meats, baked ham or fried
chicken.
