Mrs. Orr hostess
to Dorcas Class
The Dorcas Sunday School
Class of the First Baptist Church
met Thursday, June 14, in the
home of Mrs. Lela Orr. A lovely
covered dish luncheon was served
to the following members: Ren-
nie Kemp, Emily Justiss, Cora
Bonifield, Ethel Wade, Florence
Hogg, Maggie Tims, Zilpha Davis,
Mattie McGehee, and hostess,
Lela Orr.
Visitors were Delma Garrison,
Erma Allen, John Ella Hathorn
and Mrs. John Luther.
A business meeting was held in
the afternoon, followed by a social
hour. All reported a wonderful
time.

Vaughn - Scroggins vows read
in First Baptist Church here
Miss Nelda Vaughn, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Vaughn,
of Claude, became the bride of
Elvin Dean Scroggins, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Elvin Scroggins, of
Tulia, Texas, in a beautiful' ser-
vice Friday, June 1, 1962, in the
First Baptist Church of Claude.
The Rev. J. J. Allison, Baptist
minister, performed the double
ring ceremony.
The candle light service was
held in front of an arch of
greenry topped with a white
satin bow and wedding bells, ac-
cidented with candlebaras. Two
large vases of white gladiolias
and azalias stood on each side
of the archway.
Mrs. Pat Bogwell of Claude,
gave traditional organ selections
and assisted Miss Carol Garrett
of Pampa, who sang "Walk Hand
and Hand," "Because," and "The
Wedding Prayer."
Miss Bobbie Sue Vaughn of
Claude was her sister's maid of
honor. Mrs. James Needham, sis-
ter of the groom, and Miss Mar-
tha Blackwell, both of Amarillo,
were bridesmaids. Ringbearer was
Miss Darlene Vaughn of Groom,
cousin of the bride. She was also
dressed in white. All dresses were
identical yellow brocaded taffeta
with yellow net hats. They all
carried yellow and white carna-
tions with yellow ribbon streamers.
James Needham of Amarillo,
brother-in-law of the groom, Jim-
my Scribe and Ronnie Wetzel,
both of Wayside, were grooms-
men and candlelighters were
Ronnie Wetzel and Jimmy Scribe
of Wayside.
Given in marriage by her fath-
er, the bride was lovely in a
wedding gown of white rose point
lace over nylon net fashioned
with scholloped neckline, embor-
diered with seed pearls, long tap-
ered sleeves ending in points
over the hands. The skirt panal-
ed in back with tapered lace that
draped the floor. She wore an
elbow length veil attached to
queens crown with clusters of
pearls. She carried a bouquet of
white carnations flaked with yel-
low, a-top a white prayer book
with white satin streamers.
The bride's mother wore a
brown and gold darcon print
with white accessories. The bride-
groom's mother wore a dress of
brown lace with white acces-
sories.
A reception was held in Fellow-
ship Hall of the church follow-
ing the service. Linda Scroggins
of Tulia, sister of the bridegroom,
registered the guests. Linda Wink-
compleck and Peggy Thompson
served at the beautifully appoint-
ed reception table.
For the wedding trip to Wich-
ita, Kansas, the bride wore a
black and white checked dress of
sharkskin with white accessories.
After the fifth of June the couple
will be at home in Claude, Texas.
The bride is a 1962 graduate of
Claude High School. The bride-
