J. 8. Bussard drove to G'aziar
after freight Monday.
Price Cope was in £rom north-
east of town yesterday.
Lawrence Porter lost a young
filley Friday evening valued at
$200.
Henry Altmiller was in from
Fifth Creek doing some trading
yesterday.
Charley Teten living north of
town was transacting business in
the burg Monday.
P. R. Wheatly, of Fifth Creek
was a pleasant caller at the Lime
Light office yesterday.
James Wolfe was in from his
home on Sand Creek Tuesday,
and was in some rush, too.
N. H. Baldwin was in from his
Sand Creek home last Saturday
mixing with the business men
in town.
Twin Gilson came in Tuesday
from Des Moines^ New Mexico, to
spend the holidays with old time
friends and relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Lee Allen living
northeast of town left last Fri-
day for a lew days visit with
friends and relatives in Missouri.
Sheriff Berlin Millhoilon
returned from Higgins yesterday
evening where be had been col-
lecting taxes for two or three
days.
Sam Hunter was in town yes-
terday afternoon looking around
some for stuff to play old Santa
with at his home south east of
town.
Mr. and Mrs. Finis Thrailkill
came over from Higgins last
night to spend Christmas with
their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. S
Bussard.
The Higgins-Lipscomb mail
= >route had two sections of the
"fast mail" Mond iy ;in order to
handle the enormous amount of
Christmas and parcel post mail.
W. K. Barton went to Higgins
last Friday afternoon and return-
ed with his son Layton, who is
home from Canyon whero he has
been attending school. He will
visit during the holidays with his
many Lipscomb friends and rela-
tives.
The Lavern Leader got out a
twelve page holiday issue, Dec.
19 It was dressed with colored
outside pages and brim full of
good live advertising which
demonstrated the appreciation of
the people toward the main boos
ter of the town
R. S. Porter, of Shadeland,
who Las been visiting with his
son, Lawrence, and daughter,
Mrs. Chance Shahan for the past"
three weeks, left Monday for
West Plains, Mo., where he will
remaiu the balance of the winter
visiting with friends and relatives
besides receiving some medical
attention that well be of great
benefit to his future health.
The old story about the "beau-
tiful covering Mother Earth"
seems rediculous to relate, but its
no joke, snow commenced falling
Sunday evening about five o'clock
and kept it up until Monday
morning a long time after Old
Sol showed his face. In the
neighborho« of five or six inch
depth is w%it pedestrians were
required to tramp through as a
gentle reminder that rabbit hunt-
ing days were here.
The teachers institute that
finished its business here last
Friday was one of the most en-
thusiastic of any prioivgatliering
of this kind. With the excep-
tion of two all the school teach-
ers of the county were present
and they took an active part.
No one was slow to respond
when it came their time to
'•make good" on some pedagagic
question. Everyone took a part
in making the institute a great
success.
