At State Theatre

Today and Saturday, the State
continues, its current showing of
Clark Gable in "No Man of Her
Own," with Carol* Lombard and
Dorothy Mackaill, and "The Greeks
Had a Word for Them," a snappy
story of three gold-digging blendes,
featuring Joan Blondoll, Madge
Evans, Ina Claire, Lowell Sherman
and David Manners. Another epi-
sode of "Heroes of the West," the
Peter B. Kyne serial, Is included
n the same program.
The guild also held an enthusias-
tic meeting Monday, March 27 at
319 Richter street with Mrs. V. Lee
as hostess. Mrs. C. M. Thomaa
gave an excellent talk In behalf of
the Colored Catholic parishes. A
delicious luncheon was served. Be-
cause of the death of our repor-
ter'* father, meeting was postroned
last Monday. Next meeting will
be Monday, April 10.

As a special bargain good for
one week only, th* Empire Theatre
has reduced its balcony price to 10
cents, it was announced yesterday.
This special reduction, it is un-
derstood, is made in an effort to
stimulate business, and also to test
the effect of a lower admission
price. It was indicated that If the

put Into effect permanently.
Starting today, the Empire's new
picture is "Humanity," starring
Boots Mallory and Ralph Morgan

The club was entertained Sun-
day with a slumber party with Miss
Martha Irving as hostess. After

Miss Evelyn Sinclair entertained
the L. G. Girls at her beautiful
home, 1026 E. Crockett Street. A
brief business lession was held and
an Easter egg hunt was planned.
After meeting the hostess led the
members to the spacious dining
room, where an appetizing four-
course dinner was served. Easter

with you again with our right
swing. Meeting was opened with
our president, Miss Zelma Dykes,

teresting business session, the so-

The society met Saturday eve-

The club held its regular meet-
ing at the Y. Monday evening. Aft-
er a lengthy business session,

ing talk on Courtesy, which proved
to be very beneficial to the club.
Miss Esther Woolridge entertain-
ed with the latest songs. The club
then adjourned.

Mrs. Emma Walker highly enter,
tained the club Sunday, April 2, at
the Garden of Flowers Tea Room,

business meeting the hostess served

Prominent Club
Woman Injured
Mra. S. J. Butler was painfully
injured Friday, March 31, when an
attempt to start her car resulted in
a broken arm. She was given treat-
ment at Santa Rosa Infirmary,
later returning home, where she is
under the care of a physician.
BURGLAR SENTENCED
Atlanta, Ga.—(ANP)— Sentence
of eight to ten years imprisonment
was imposed upon Joe Gray in the
Superior court Wednesday when he
pleaded guilty to burglary.
