Fall Race
Meeting
Has Been Set and Will Start
September 22nd

AMARILLO, Aug. 21st. Dates
for the fall race meeting spon-
sored by the Tri-State Fair in
Amarillo have been set by the dir-
ctiors starting on Sept. 22.
This means that lovers of the
turf wilf have opportunity to en-
ioy seven glorious days of thoro-
ughbred racing.
Last spring's meeting was so
successful that Tri-State Fair of-
ficials are leaving no stone un-
turned In preparing for the fall
neeting.
Officials of this meeting will be
chosen from the group of local
and Panhandle citizens who as-
listed the nationally famous turf-
men in conducting the meeting
last spring.
The admission price for the
coming event has been lowered
25 cents from that charged last
spring, the price for the fall
meeting being 50 cents per person
with 25 cents additional for box
seats.
Pari-mutuels again will be op-
erated at the plant.
The racing pjant has been un-
5er constant care since the last
meeting and today stands as one
of the best '/2 mile tracks in the
ntire country. National figures
in the world of thoroughbred rac-
ing have declared the Amarillo
layout to be among the best smal-
ler tracks in the nation.
Horse owners wishing stalls

The United States Civil Service
Commission has announced <fren
competitive examinations as fol-
lows:
Junior biologist (Injuries mam
mals), senior biological aide (In-
jurious mammals) assistant lead-
er (predatory animal control)
$2,000 a year, Bureau of Biological
Survey, Department of Agrlcul
ture. Specified education, or edu-
cation and experience, required
Closing date, September 4, 1934.
Chief economist, $5,600 a year
Bureau of Labor Statistics, Depar
tment of Labor. Acceptable edu
cation and experience in labor
economics, required. Closing date
August 23, 1934.
The salaries named are subjr-ct
to a deduction of not to exceed
5 percent during the fiscal year
ending June 30, 1935, as a mea-
sure of economy, and also to a
deduction of 3-Vi percent toward
a retirement annuity.
All States except Iowa, Ver-
mont, Virginia, Maryland, and
the District of Columbia have re-
ceived less than their quota of
appointments in the apportioned
departmental service in Washin-
gton, D. C.

of Examiners at the post office
in any city which has a post oi-
fice of the first or the second

Rev. Hlmes accompanied some
of the Follett Leaguers to Guthrie,
Oklahoma, early Monday morn-
ing where they will be present at
the League Institute.
Dale Hell will fill the pulpit
here Sunday during the absence
of Rev. Hlmes.
September 6th, is the evening
that Rev. Parkhurst will be In
Folfett to hold the last Quarterly
Conference. Please remember and
attend.
Friday was ?he last day of
school for the sixty or more
children that had enrolled In the
Vacation Bible School that was
held at the church. The three
older grades showed that they
had learned much from their
worthy instructors In the two
weeks. They are to be complim-
ented on the way they learned
these words of wisdom, the short
sketches, bible verses and songs
were greatly appreciated.
