A^play entitled "An old Fas-
hioned^ Mother" was given by
the High School at the auditorium
Friday night. The dress and
gtyle of the characters represent-
ed those of 20 years ago. Some
of the Dads and Mothers were
made to feel quite old when they
saw their gray haired children on
the stage. But the play^as pro-
nounced yery succeful. The pro-
ceeds amounted to $39.00.
On Saturday most of our towns
men and some of the country
people near by participate in a
Rabbit Drive which extended up
'and down Wolf Creek for about
5 miles east and west of Lipscomb
owing to the small amount of men
and boys the Drive was not very
succesful However when the
smoke cleared .away w|e had 1,59

The past week the citizens in
near Lipsomb have had the

morning the weather became not-
able in its change. About 4:00
o'Clock it began snowing and

On Saturday Feb. 9th, the
Lipscomb people are going to en-
gage in a rabbit drive. The east
end of the drive will begin some
place below Lipscmb on Wolf
Creek and the west end wili be-
gin both sides are to drive toward
wast at Lipsomb. The proceeds
from the rabbit scalps are to be
used toward giving a fine supper
at the Theisen Hotel.
We are pleased to relate at this
writing that the Austin Bridge
Company have gone to wdrk on
the Lipscomb bridge across
Wolf Creek. They began work
Thursday and expect to have all
the piling down by the middle of
the week if the weather is favor*
able.
The people of Lipscomb re-
gretted to hear of the death of
Grandmother Harlan, of Higgins
which occurred Monday after-
noon. Mrs. Harlan had been
Hick for some time but the news
of her death came as a shock to
her many friends and relatives.
Mr. John T Cellman and R. H.
Gaston, of Dallas, and Mr.
Cautrell, of Amarillo, were in
Lipscomb Jan. 2Cth. Mr. Cell-
man and Mr. Gaston were col-
lecting the old ballots of the last
election. J •
Politics have revived in Lip-
scomb again. We understand

Will Trekel and Johnnie Min-
gus narrowly escaped serious in-
jury when a Briscoe car driven
by yoiog Trekel, ran into 'a cul-
bert in the south part of Arnett,
Friday night. Johnnie Mingus
was bruised and cut very pain-
fully about the head and face as
the result of being thrown into
the windshield. The car and
the culbert were both somewhat
smashed up.-Ellis County Cap-
ital.
A settlement of wide <awake
farmers near Lindsay, Tex., have
a scheme for road buiiding. On
one farmer's place is a gravel in
abundance. This farmer furnish-
es frefe the gravel for road build-
ing purposes,; while 'the other
farmers grade up the roadbeds
and do the graveling. When the
work is completed it hasn't cost
anything except a little time and
labor, and tnere are no taxes to
p$y—Exchange.

Beit Laverty's farm preparatory
