PAVING PROGRESS
The opening of Rice Boulevard this week marks the
completion of one of the major steps in the progress of
West University Place. With concentration now centered
on residential paving and that on University Boulevard, the
city may soon be entirely out of the mud.
It seems to us that a goodly portion of the dissatisfac-
tion and the political bickering of the past few years have
been brought about by paving needs.
What with this program well over half licked, the street
signs all installed, and the drainage problem well in hand,
residents of West University Place have every right to be
proud of their city.
One of the few municipalities in this area to be free of
water supply worries, with a sewage disposal plant entirely
adequate, with splendid police and fire protection, there is
little more that could be asked.
However, till every phase of improvement and possible
advantage is afforded, the Southwestern Times will continue
to work shoulder to shoulder with the residents, the civic
leaders and the city officials to make and keep this section
the finest place in the world to live.
