Vacationing in 'Estes Park, Colo-
rado, are Mr. and Mrs. Hurley C.
Roberson of 2444 McClendon.
They will be gone about two weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. William E. Sou-
chek of 5407 Brae Burn and their
daughter, Julianne, left yesterday
for a trip to Iowa City, Iowa,
where they will visit with Mr.
Souchek's parent3. Another stop on
their itinerary will be the Lake of
the Ozarks.

will stay a week after which they
will return to South Bend, In-
diana, where Mr. Rafferty will en-
ter his senior year at Notre Dame
University. While here they have
been entertained with a party at
which Mr. Rafferty's old friends
and ex-schoolmates at St. Thomas
were guests.
Returned home from a vacation

tin this week is Mrs. William J.
Merrill of 4812 Locust. She was
accompanied on the trip by her
children.
Luncheon at the Empire Room
was the entertainment extended by
Mrs. Earl Kelly and Mrs. R. A.
Featherstone, Jr., to Mrs. Edna
Palmer of 5103 Huisache on the
occasion of her birthday. Others
who attended were Mr3. R. A. Wil-
liams, Mrs. Helen Krieger, Mrs.

age, Mrs. R. S. Giles, Mrs. Jean
Oik, Mrs. Mary Cooke, Mrs. A. B.

Each of those attending presented
the honoree with a gift. The table
was centered with an arrangement
of mixed flowers.
Mrs. Allen B. White and daugh-
ters, Florence and Joan, of 3765
Sunset Boulevard have returned
from a motor trip to Maryland,
Pennsylvania and Ohio. They were
joined in the north by Mr. White
who drove back with them.
Hosts for a dinner and bridge
party in their home Saturday
night were Mr. and Mrs. William
C. Wheat of 546 South Third.
Jimmy Dodds and his bride-
elect, Miss Helen Farmer, were
honorees at a garden party given
Friday by his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. J. C. Dodds of 2344 Rice Bou-
levard. The couple was subsequent-
ly married on Sunday in Bethany
Christian Church, East Columbia.
More than 400 guests attended the
pre-nuptial festivity.
Houseguests of Mrs. C. R. Ogil-
vie, 4605 Bellaire Boulevard, are
Mrs. Frances Kruse of Denver,
Colorado, and Mrs. Lily "Edwards

Recently returned from a motor
trip to the west, northwest and
British Colombia, are Mr. and
Mrs. Adrian R. Crooks and their
son, Fred Newton, of 3004 Rice
Boulevard.
En route to Mexico are the R.
S. Giles family of 5105 Huisache.
They left Monday.
Announcement has been made by
Mr. and Mrs. William I. West of
2639 Pemberton of the engagement
of their daughter, Miss Frances
Ann West, to Alfred James Baken
of Absarokee, Montana.
Mrs. R. C. Suggs of 4535 Elm
will leave Saturday to pick up her
children, who are visiting in Mis-
sissippi, and go on to Alabama
for a visit.
Others who are leaving for a
vacation on Saturday are Mr. and
Mrs. Edward A. Miller of 4617
Laurel, who will go to Nebraska.
Recently returned from a vaca-
tion in west Texas are Mr. and
Mrs. F. A. Huwieler of 6642 Rut-
gers. Mrs. Huwieler, who is presi-
dent of the Houston Council of
Texas Garden Clubs, was guest
speaker at a conclave of women
gardeners in Alpine, where she
Mr. and Mrs. F. P. Day vault of
1961 Dryden have been hosts for
the past month to Mrs. Dayvault's
brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and
Mrs. James F. Fair, who 3pent the
past two years in Denmark. The
Fairs will leave today for Grand
Prairie, Alberta, Canada.
Back in Houston after a two-
week visit with her brother and
sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Emile
G. Hoffman of Chicago, Illinois,
is Mrs. Jeanette Sims.
Southside Men's Club
Plans Watermelon Party
Members of the Men's Club of
Southside Place will gather for a
watermelon party and regular
business meeting at 8 p. m. Wed-
nesday in the Southside Club
House.
Principal business of the eve-
ning will be a report from the
nominating committee giving can-
didates for the park board and a
report from the boys' committee
regarding their progress in organ-
izing a junior men's club.
