On Wednesday evening, Oct
16th, at six thirty o'clock the
death angel visited the home Of
Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Gooch end
taken from the home their oldest
child, Leon.
We are never prepared for the
hand of death to come our way,
but Leon had been sick with in-
fluenza, followed by pneumonia,
for several days. All that the
physician, frienda and loved ones
could do was done for him, but
God in His wisdom saw that it
was best to take him from this
sinful world and carry him to
that world where there is no
pain, sickness or death.
We do not understand in our
human weakness why God would
reach down into a community
and pluck the choicest young life
out, but we do know that he
doeth all things well and knoweth
what is best for us. We submit
to his will.
Leon, as we all call him, would
have been been 19 years old the
twenty-sixth of next December.
A few years ago he was convert-
ed and joined the Missionary
Baptist church at Snalum. Rev.
R L. Estes baptised him. He
lived a life that we all might
copy, for I think his was one of
the cleanest I ever had the priv-
ilege of knowing. It was my
privilege to be in Bro. and sister
Gooch's home many times. I
never in the 8 years I had known
Leon heard him return a word to
father or mother. He always
did their biddings with a smile.
I don't suppose he ever tasted
liquor, never used tobacco in any
form and I don't guess be ever
swore an oath.
Many have passed out to meet
God these laat few weeks and we
are glad to know that in Leon's
going that he dwells with God.
Wears grieved for him but
we should not, for in our loss it
is God's gain. To the loved ones
let me say, let's so live that when
God calls for us we will be ss he
was, ready to go.

Friend Richard Mc:—
I am sending you a check today
for renewal to the Great Week-
ly News. I appreciate it very
much and look forward to its
coming as I would a letter from
home. I scan it all over and
read all the adds to keep up with
the business of all the business
men and the changes that some-
times take place. So credit my
account with $1.50 and oblige
your old friend.
