About nine o'clock Tuesday
night; County Clerk Sarti Spears,
was cslled on by William
Johpeon, better known as club-
foot Bill, who wsnted s licence
to wed s Miss Julia Shackel-
ford, a little girl of ecsroe four-
teen yars of age. "Clubfoot"
told the clerk that he had writ-
ten oonsent from the child'e
parents, bat when called on by
the clerk to produce the docu-
ment he failed to ebow down,
and eaid the girl's mother died
many years ago. and her father
was satisfying the laws of the

forming daily labor in the State
institution at Hunteville. John-
son farther said his girl has,
since infancy, lived with ber
sister, Mrs. Hnldah Parmer. An

velop facts sufficient to warrant
